I visited the Wayne County Library and found some information, but now Susan's mother. Below are the obituaries for James and Susan Scott. I do have more information on their family.

WOOSTER DAILY REPUBLICAN
Newspaper Date: 25 Oct 1894
DOD – 29 Sep 1894

At Fredericksburg, Wayne County, Ohio, Saturday, September 29, 1894, died a pioneer of the county. Mrs. Susanna Scott (nee Bechtel) aged 86 years 1 month 9 days, whose life was remarkable, with many notable incidents. Born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania in 1808, her mother died in 1820 and she moved with her father to Wayne County in 1823. Marrying James Scott in 1829 in Salt Creek Township, they moved to Franklin Township, April 1, 1830, beginning in the woods a home they enjoyed until October 15, 1878, they removed to Wooster. Upon Mr. Scott’s death in 1883, she went back to the old home, spending her remaining days with her sons, Robert and Martin. She died in a good old age leaving five children, 21 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren. Tuesday, October 2, a large concourse of sympathizing friends met at the home of J. M. Scott, to pay the last tribute of respect to her mortal remains. She united with the M. E. Church in 1825 and remained a consistent member and liberal supporter until death. From childhood even down to old age, she proved that “His grace was sufficient.” For nearly 70 years she walked with God before he called her home. For months she was confined to her room; but she never wearied of hearing “The old, old story of Jesus and his love.” Even after speech failed she expressed by sign, her desire to have the scripture read and prayer offered. Never once did her faith waiver or her hope falter. Always patient but always anxious to leave the feeble tenement of clay and wing her away to the skies.

WAYNE COUNTY DEMOCRAT
Newspaper Date: 28 March 1883
DOD – 13 March 1883

James Scott was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, February 7, 1807 and in the following April his father removed to Columbiana County, Ohio. When he was four years old his mother died and for a short time he was returned to the care of his grandfather in Washington County, afterward being brought back to his father’s house. In April, 1817, his father moved to Wayne County. James Scott was married April 30, 1829 and settled in Franklin Township, April 1, 1830. He removed to Wooster, October 15, 1878. Here on April 30, 1879 was celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his marriage with his companion, who survives him.

He joined the Methodist Episcopal Church August 4, 1831. His wife, six years earlier when but a girl of thirteen years, had united with the same church. In their early days their house was much used as a place of public worship, and in times of great interest, the house being too small, services were held in the barn, the meetings being conducted by Jesse Warner. In the days of his strength he held responsible positions as an official member in the church. With good management and success in business, he was able to give liberal assistance to the church and did so to the last of his life. His religious life, especially in later years, was quiet but positive, with frequent seasons of fervent joy. His children, following the example of their parents have all united with the M. E. Church and taken up the burden which age and infirmity compelled their father and mother to lay down.

He was for more than a year an invalid, having never recovered from a fall he received on the street January 24, 1882; but he was patent, resigned and expecting release from suffering in death; asked only for a quiet hour in which to die. He had his prayer, Tuesday night, March 13, too weak to talk, he evidently entered into a season of holy joy and while giving every sign of triumph, quietly passed into the bliss eternal.
