I'm looking for any information that anyone may have on Hannah Bechtol, 6 Nov 1819-7 Feb 1881. She Married Peter Culler (Koller)18 Nov 1841 in Middletown, MD. She is buried in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown. They had 10 children. I can not seem to find anything on her parents, or anything else. I've also seen the name spelled Bechdol, though that could have been a spelling mistake.

My name is Tara Farris and I believe your John is my Mary's brother. I am the 3rd gen. great grand-daughter of Mary Bechtol Wilkinson Moyer, sister of Elizabeth Bechtol Moyer.

I am VERY interested to know if we are connected in some way and if we may have useful information to swap.

According to my research Mary Bechtol, b. March 17, 1826 was one of 14 children including a sister Elizabeth, b. September 11, 1830. The were both born in Indiana County, PA and would relocate w/ their family to Centre County, PA and in 1836 moved to Marion County Ohio. Elizabeth married Daniel MOYER in 1853 and they moved to Iowa in the same month.

Mary married Elijah WILKINSON and the had a daughter Margaret Jane Wilkinson, my grandmother. Mary and Margaret are found in the 1860 Census in Iowa living with Elizabeth and Daniel. Nothing is known of Elijah WILKINSON.

Migrated family from Pennsylvania to Ohio to Iowa

I am looking for information on a line of the BECHTOL Family that is believed to originate in or around Indiana County , PA. The family had 14 children, 7 boys and 7 girls. Two of the girls were Mary BECHTOL, b. March 17, 1826 and Elizabeth BECHTOL, b. September 11, 1820 both born in Indiana County, PA.

The family relocated to Centre County, PA and in 1836 moved to Marion County, Ohio. On September 18, 1853, Elizabeth married Daniel MOYER and that same month they moved to Iowa. According to some research, Mary married a Elijah WILKINSON and had a daughter Margaret Jane WILKINSON, b. June 12, 1850 in Allen County, Ohio. When Margaret was 6 years old, her mother and her moved to Iowa and lived with her sister Elizabeth and Daniel MOYER. The 1860 Census has the 4 of them listed together in the MOYER home of Linn County Iowa.

It is uncertain what happened to Elijah WILKINSON. There is a census record for an Elijah WILKINSON in the 1830 Scioto County, Ohio, but he is in his 40's. It is not clear if this is the same individual or not. And no other records with that name have been found thus far.
My Lovina Bechtol was born in 1835 in PA, however by 1860 she was in OH and married to Andrew Clapper. From all indications, her father's name was Samuel Bechtol and her mother was Mary Epler. She came from a family of 14 children and some of them moved on to IA.
I always thought Lovina Bechtol was a horrid name, and she was the only Lovina Bechtol around.
George Bechtol, Champaign County, Ohio, abt. 1881

I am seeking information on GEORGE BECHTOL who lived in Mad River Township, Champaign County, Ohio around the time period of 1881. He was married to LAURA SWARTZ and had a daughter, BLANCHE BECHTOL who was married to PRINCE EARL LOWER.

I am not able to locate any death date or any grave site for this man. Laura remarried when Blanche was 3 years, which would make the year 1884. So I am wondering if George may have died between the years of 1881 and 1884.
To Sara, and Mary Wright Fultz, I thank you ladies for responding and to everyone else that I may not have seen.

I realize in some cases a couple years have gone by. Regardless you may email me at Shellseeker@aol.com; if you think you can help.

Father told me we were related to a "Sylvia Bechtol" that lived at one time in Oil City, Ven.Co., PA. Most of his relatives came from Venango or are still there!!

Sylvia may have married into the family. We tried the census and it was not readable, unfortunately. Also she may have remarried. My hunch is that she has a connection with the O'Neil or Schreffler or Hughes or Steffee families....???

It is not a direct line, but my Bible in the center has my note from Dad, and I just thought 'someone' could identify her. She was probably born in the early 1900's. But guessing...

My O'Neil family moved from Venango Co. to Law Co. PA and then father moved to Mahoning Co., OH. I no longer have either parent, therefore, I am stonesearching!!

Thanks so much for all of your responses and I welcome any and all suggestions..Sincerely, Louise O'Neil Cook in OH

Hello, and thank you for the information. Spelling
certainly does vary with this family name, you are
so right.

I will look into this connection. Venango isn't
far from Center County.

These forums don't display the email address of the
person posting a message, unlike the Genforum. of
if they do I can't figure out how to display it. So
I can't email you directly unless you put your email
address right into the message.

Donna
jndlewis@worldnet.att.net

Dad said she lived in Oil City, which is, of course Venango Co., PA...

This may or may not help you..and yes there are tons of spellings, but this is the one father gave to me...Good luck in your search and you may email me....Thank you!

Their father, Amos Bechtol who married Elizabeth Pattison of New Castle, Lawrence CO, PA, received his Civil War pension at Steubenville.

Can anyone in the George Bechtol, Montpelier line connect to Steubenville, Ohio?
