My grandfather was john robert bechtold, grandmother was nellie mae bechtold. Dad was robert william and my brother was charles william. Uncle ralph and aunt clara. Hope this helps.

I have not found the Bible, but I did find Mary Jane. She is Lottie Bechtold's granddaughter. She does not have the Bible which my great aunt showed me over 40 years ago when I was in high school.

My Bechtold ancestor's came from the Lebanon, PA area and settled in Stephenson County, Illinois probably around 1850-1870.

I have been stumped for some time by my Becktold (or Bechtold) and Ochs relatives in Wayne County and Monroe County in and around Detroit Michigan. My search ends with Nick Becktold in the 1880 census

My great grand mother was Helen Ochs--whose mother was Mary Ann (or Marian) Becktold. According to Helen's birth record from the City of Monroe for her birth on 26 Feb 1879, was born to parents--John Ochs in Twp of Monroe (in Monroe Co) MI and Mary Ochs in Monroe Michigan. Occupation of father, John Ochs is Cigar Maker.

On the BECKTOLD/Bechtold side the serach ends with Nick Becktold. In the 03Jun1880 Monroe Twp Federal Census Helen Ochs (age 1 y/o) is found to be a grandchild in the household of Nick Becktold (age 53) that included a daughter named Mary Ann (age 22 married name not recorded) who had been married for one year.

The next time I found Helen (my great grandmother) she was married to (my great grandfather) Daniel Bourassa (misspelled as Bowarsa) in the 1900 Federal Census for Ecorse, Wayne, Michigan.

Helen’s daughter Beatrice Marian Bourassa on the back of a copy of Hellena's birth certificate wrote that she had been named for her grandmother "Marian." This is likely the same “Mary Ann” in the 1880 census.

One the Ochs side the search ends with two John Ochs born 1858 cited in two Wayne Co. MI Federal Census records of 12 year old John Ochs recorded 9 days apart.

For the two 12 y/o John Ochs--one is a school and one works on farm. There is an outside possibility that two John Ochs are the same person. The census records are from different dates in different households. In the 01 Aug record a John lives with parents in Greenfield Twp. and works on the farm. In the 22 Jul record a John Ochs lives in Detroit with a Mr. & Mrs. Jordan and is “at school.”

On 01Aug1870, in Greenfield Twp., Wayne Co., MI Fed Census recorded a John Ochs (age 12) “works on farm” and is the son of John Ochs (age 47) and Monnie Ochs (age 36), living with Conrad (age 19), Mary (age 10) and Mannie (1/12). John age 47 was born in Hesse-Darmstadt / Hessen-Darmstadt; Monnie age 36 was born in Prussia. Conrad age 19 was born in Hesse-Darmstadt / Hessen-Darmstadt; Monnie. John, Mary and Monnie were born in Michigan.

On 22Jul1870 in Detroit, Ward 4, Wayne Co., MI Fed Census recorded a John Ochs age 12 lives with a Shoemaker and wife (John & Josephine Jordan) and Henrietta Ochs age 14, Philipine Ochs age 10 and August Ochs age 6. All four children are “at school.” John & Josephine Jordan were born in Bavaria, all children including John were born in Michigan.

One of these John Ochs could likely be the father of Helena Ochs
In 1900 John P. Ochs (age 43) and Minnie H. Ochs (age 38) are found in Federal Census for Springwells, Wayne Co., Michigan are found with George H. Ochs (age 14) and Fred A. Ochs (age 9).

In 1920 John P. Ochs (age 62) and Annie Ochs (age 45) are found in Federal Census for Springwells, Wayne Co., Michigan.

Looking for info on Russell Bechtold, born 1906-1907 in St. Louis, Missouri. He resided in St. Louis until approx 1941 and was a Confectioner by trade. Russell was Vice President of the National Ice Cream Co in St. Louis from 1912 to 1923.

I believe he is the same Russell Bechtold born on 26 Aug 1906 and died 28 Feb 1991, with Missouri issued SSN 494-10-6110, however I do not have proof of connection.

Hello. My great-great grandmother was Christina Bechtold and she came from Odessa, Russia in the late 1800's. Her family was German. Her parents were Konrad Bechtold and Chris Chrisman. They settled in Nebraska. Maybe there is a connnection.

My grandfather, Conrad William Theodor Bechtold, was born in Germany, as a missionery in India, and later came to America, where he had his family. I have much information on him. He married Theresa Palis. Is this the same Conrad Bechtold to whom you are related?

Hi Sally. I am interested in getting a copy of your book. My grandmother can't find her copy that was for me. My great-great-great-grandparents were Konrad Bechtold and Chris Chrisman. I would love any info on this line for my family has no info. Looking for info on Samuel Bechtold of Thompson twp., Seneca Co., Ohio in 1850. Samuel was age 64. children listed Mary age 23, Elizabeth age 21, Abby age 19, Lovina age 16, william age 24 and Catharine age 17 who is married to David Hillis age 30?.
Catharine and David Hillis had daughter named Cordelia, born in 1850.
They lived in Reed twp. Seneca co., OH in 1870. At that time David Hillis is age 55 and Catharine is age 36. David Hillis died 4 JAN 1885 in chicago Junction (Willard) ohio at age 70. Buried in Bethel Church of God Cemetary. I think catharine (Bechtol/Bechtold) Hillis lived in Willard, OH. when did she die?
Need obit for her. Who were parents of David Hillis?

Becktolds from Baden, Germany living in Michigan-1880

I recently discovered documentation my "Becktold" ancestors in the 1880 Federal Census in Monroe County, Michigan.

Because of the spelling I had previously missed them during my searches. I have no family lore or documentation on how they spelled their name. I have a marriage record for Beckdoll and this census record.

The "Nic" Becktold (b abt 1827) and Theresa (b abt 1832) immigrated from Baden Germany.

The couple had 4 children born in Michigan and living in Monroe County Michigan in 1880: Marian or "Mary Ann" (born about 1858), Katie (b abt 1864), Antony (b abt 1869) and Mary Rose (b abt 1871).

I would be interested in any information or connections.

GIG HARBOR, Wash. — Carol Bechtold died in Gig Harbor, Wash., on Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998.
She was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Trucksville, Pa., the second of seven children of Forrest and Oda Siegel.
She lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio as a child, but spent most of her adult life in Oneonta.
Upon the death of her first husband, Charles Bechtold, in 1976, she moved to be near her daughters and, in 1979, married her husband's widowed brother, William "Bud" Bechtold, and settled in Gig Harbor, Wash.
Carol enjoyed keeping in touch with her family back East and visited them often.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Lynne and Bill Shepherd of Vashon Island, Wash. and Susan and Blain Eliot of Allyn, Wash.; stepchildren, Jill and Bill Becker of Puyallup, Wash., and Michael and Anita Bechtold of Chicago; grandchildren, Meggen and Matt Chadsey, David Shepherd, Graham Becker, and Chris and Barbara Bechtold. She is also survived by a brother, Forrest Siegel Jr., two sisters, Janet Crossett and Ruth Lutz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Highway 16 West, Gig Harbor, Wash., from 7 to 8 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 18, 1998. Remembrances in Carol's name may be made to the Gluten Intolerance Group, P.O. Box 23053, Seattle, Wash., 98102-0353.

Looking for information on Philip Bechtold and his wife (unknown). They were living in Montgomery County, Ohio from about 1840 to before 1870 when Philip and some family are in Whitley County, Indiana. Philip's wife is not listed on the 1850 census or beyond.

Their children were born in the 1840's in Montgomery County, Ohio. They were: Catherine, Emily, Elizabeth, Nancy and Lewis.

Catherine married George Bechtold in Whitley County, Indiana. Lewis was blinded by a gun discharge when he was young and later married Sallie (unknown) and died in Warren County, Indiana.

All that I know of that exists is my immediate family, and if we are somehow related that would be something interesting to find out. I am researching every detail of the Wunce's/Wunsch's since the name was changed when John Wunsch immigrated to the U.S. and it became Wunce.
