William Fredrick Becker, the son of Wilhelm (William) and Mary Alta (McDonald) Becker was born on August 16, 1922 on a farm northwest of Newman Grove, NE. He was baptized on July 1, 1923 and confirmed June 6, 1937. Bill attended elementary school at District #65, graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1940 as class president and salutatorian of his senior class of 62 students, he then attended the Grand Island Business School before returning home to farm.

On February 1, 1944 Bill was united in marriage to Lois Rasmussen at her parent’s farm north of St. Edward. They lived and farmed in the St. Edward, Newman Grove, and Albion areas. In 1950 they moved to their farm northeast of Albion. It was there that Bill passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 85 years of age.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. He served as a member of the church council and taught Sunday School. Bill also served on the Boone County Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors for 18 years, 15 of those years as chairman. He was made an “Admiral” in the Nebraska Navy in 1963, and served on the Lower Platte NRD and chairman of the Boone County Extension Service Board for 2years.

Bill is survived by his daughter Diane Pospisil of Lubbock, TX, his son Bill Becker and wife Connie of Albion; 5 grandchildren: Greg and Tim Pospisil, Jodie Billingsley and husband Don, Amy Moser and husband Brian, and Jason Becker and wife Amber; 3 great-grandchildren: Garrett Billingsley, Camden and Cade Moser; 3 sisters: Ardith Stoner of Strawberry Point, IA; Catherine Letchworth of Jesup, IA; Ruth Newcomb of Monticello, FL; brother Art Becker and wife Shirley of Beaver City, NE; Brother & Sister-in-law C.A. “Sonny” & Phyllis Rasmussen of Newman Grove, along with other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois in 2003; brother Francis; 3 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
