I also am a descendent of Stephen Beckham. My family is also from the Missouri Beckham's. My ancestry goes from Stephen to Leonard Hardin to Henry to William Hardin to James William Henry Obider to Arvel Monroe (my grandpa). It looks as if we separate at Leonard Hardin. I have the history pretty much on my side although it is not all online yet.

Karen: I might be barking up the wrong tree but I am at a brick wall with my great grandfather. His name was Silas Beckham Adkins. He came to Florida from Edgefield ,S.C. He was born in South Carolina about 1836 and was on the 1860 census in Alachua County, Florida..He married Caroline Rebecca Templeton and she was born in South Carolina. They raised their family in Alachua,Co. Fla. I am hoping that his mother might have been a Beckham. I can't find any information on Silas and am hoping his mother might be on your tree. I am looking for Leithe L.(Leaty, Lesi, Letty, Leatty, etc.) Beckham's parents names. Leithe married Andrew Jackson Knight. Leithe was born about 1828 in either Tennessee, AL or GA. Different census state different states. Their children are Dewitt Clinton, Martha J., Nancy M.,Mary D. "Thula", Charles Daniel, Richard, Wilburn Mooney, John, Molly, Ellen S. about 1709, if there is any info you would like me to

I had also found James Beckham's marriage to Susan AGNEW in KY Marriages, and found undocumented info that James was the s/o John b 1775 NC and Mary/Polly DENTON b 1779 NC from info submitted to ancestry.com by a Shari Sitz in April 2002.

I believe John and Mary had other sons named Plummer and Zachariah, which you probably have as well.

So yes, that's the same line :) David Montgomery Beckham was b Dec 1860 and died aft 1 Jan 1920 probably in the Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio area. He m 08 May 1890 to Josephine BONENBERGER b Aug 1862 IN, d/o Jacob BONENBERGER.

What is the documentation to link James BECKHAM to his parents? Is your information online anywhere? And I'd love to have the full dates of birth/death on James and his wife, and location of burial.

David Montgomery BECKHAM b Dec 1860 KY whom married abt 1890 to Josephine BONENBERGER. I do not yet know if this was their first marriage.

They had two ch:

John Everett BECKHAM b 1896 Henderson Co., KY
Joanna C. BECKHAM b 1898 KY m a HOLLOWAY

Found them in Kentucky in 1900, and in Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH, by the 1920 census.

Can't find David Beckham on the 1880 census index via familysearch.org, and have no idea what his father's first name is.

Does anyone out there have any Beckham connections in Henderson Co., KY or vacinity, or have any David's in their Beckham ancestry pre-1870?

If im correct on this, effies maiden name was beckham. ive just recently started looking into my family history so im not real good with the whos who but i know my family is related to beckhams, blasingame and weaver. all in oklahoma. quite a few came out of texas.

I was wondering about this book your Mother had. What is the name of this book and how old is it? Where did she get it and is it hand written or published? I am a Beckham by birth. My father was Buford Beckham and his father was Ben C Beckham. His father was Samuel Beckham.
All lived in Kentucky mostly in Scott, Owen, and Grant Co.
By change do you have or have had any relatives that lived in Kentucky?

John Beckham and Mary "Polly" Denton Beckham had the following children: Plummer, Zachariah, James H., William, Matilda and Elizabeth.

In a deed found in Henderson Co., KY courthouse dated 15 Mar 1851 between William Beckham of Hancock Co., IL and James H. Beckham of Henderson County, KY. William Beckham for and of the sum of seventy dollars to him in hand..... sell and convey unto the said James H. Beckham a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Henderson and state aforesaid on the water of Canoe Creek ..35 acres and is known as William Beckham interest in and to the two hundred acres tract of land owned by John Beckham dec'd. A similiar deed was also found between Plummer and James H.

Plummer is the line that my sons descend from.

I have no other information on James and Susan.

I have a David Beckham born ab 1861 in Henderson Co., KY. Parents James H. Beckham and Susan Agnew Beckham who md 6 May 1852 Henderson Co. KY.

Beside David they had: William, Rufus, Thomas S. and Mary.

James' parents were John Beckham and Mary Polly Denton md 17 dec 1800 in Granville Co., NC.

Does this seem to fit your line.

Andrew Jackson Knight and Leithe L. Beckham were my GGGrandparents. I have very little information on Leithe. I cannot find her parents names. Andrew had a first wife by the name of Drucilla Hardy. Drucilla and Andrew had two children, Thomas L. Knight and Julia Knight. Leithe and Andrew had 10 children. Dewitt Clinton-1850-1904, Martha J. 1852, Nancy M. 1954, Mary D. 1855, Charles Daniel 19 Feb 1857-19 Mar 1910, Richard 1819, Wilburn Mooney 20 Oct 1857-22 Apr 1940, John 1860, Molly 1865, Ellen S. 16 Apr 1870. That makes sense and living in MO for most of my life I can verify the handwriting issues. Having settled the Caswell issue maybe you can help me with another stone wall I've run into. I am trying to trace backwards from Thomas Beckham, b 1815 in NC and died between 1860-1870. He married Hannah Armstrong on 9-11-1834 in Lawrence Co., AL. Do you have any information about Thomas's father?

Caswell BECKHAM born ca 1806 North Carolina was first married to Sarah PENN, supposed daughter of William PENN born 1786 North Carolina.
He then married Mary COPELAND after her first husband John H SULLIVANT died apparently ca 1870 and relocated to Wright County Missouri.
Anyone know that date or exact year of this marriage?

Anybody know what happened to Sarah PENN BECKHAM?
Sarah BECKHAM is named in the will of the above William PENN dated 1873.
Did she die shortly after that time and Caswell then married after 1873?
Divorce?

I am trying to identify the family of this William and Elizabeth PENN and would like to know who were the children of Sarah and Caswell.

Evidence is circumstantial. I suppose the original needs to be examined to verify that this is yet another handwriting -- interpretation issue.
(These early Missouri records have many handwriting issues.
Modern indexes list one of her sisters as Martha POOR or Marthew POON married to Lewis SPAIN. Another sister Salina PENN married Henry SALLING who is indexed as Henry ROLLING. Sarah PENN is also indexed Sally PREM.)

1. Family Tradition and Local History (Dade Co. Missouri) indicate Sarah PENN married Caswell BECKHAM.
2. Sister of Sarah, Mary PENN-RENFRO, named a son James Caswell Beckham RENFRO.
3. Sarah BECKHAM is a beneficiary in the will of William PENN, 1873, along with nine others, all of whom are children of William PENN.

I'm satisfied but again the original should be examined for verification.
