Will, Herbert Sheldon Beckler, son of Granville and Susan (Wilkes) Beckler is m 1st cousin three times removed. He had two siblings Harley and Edith. Not of them had children. My grandfather, Donald Wilkes, inherited Edith's household property (land was willed to Church in FL).

Jennie Knowlton Beckler died 17 mar 1926. I have not discovered when Herbert passed away yet.

My grand aunts have told me several times of there visits to the home of Herbert Beckler in Staunton, VA.

Anyway, I would like a copy of the picture if possible. If you have it in electronic form, you can e-mail it to mcneillsr@sc.rr.com

Rescued Photos Beckler

I have acquired separate photos of Dr. Herbert Beckler and Dr. Jennie Beckler of Staunton VA. taken at Columbus OH. about 1900 - 1910. Extended family may request a copy. It appears from the census they did not have children. I did limited research and may need to find out if any of Herbert's siblings had any children.If not, may have to go to Jennie's family or Herbert's father Grandville and his brothers. I'll just have to let it set for now.

FA Bachle from Schutterwald, Gr. departed the port of La Havre arrived in New Orleans, 16 Apr. 1846 on the ship "Tagliono" then up the Mississippi R. to Tn. FA had 12 people with him.
Names were: Antoine-23, Auguste-2, *Benedict-7, Caroline-8, Catherine-30, Cresens-30, Elisabeth-18, Ferdinand-20, Ferdinand-58, Genevieve-42, Joseph-29, Madeleine-26, Raymond-9. I've just started researching my father's side of the family and came across your inquiry dated back in 2000. I'm not certain if you are still researching data or not. I know that my great-grandfather was one of four sons born to Christ Beckler in Friendship, Ripley, Indiana. The four sons were John (1864), George (1868), Sam (1870 and Fred (1872). Is it possible a daughter was born between John and George, as there is a four year space which was not too common for that time? Do you have Anna's parents names? If this could be your family, please respond.

My great grandfather, Philip FRANCIS, had a half-brother, Thomas F. JAMES, b. abt. 1857 in Schuylkill County, PA. He married Caroline J. GOUDGE in 1880 in Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, PA. Their only son, Arthur Charles JAMES, Sr., b. 11 March 1880, married in 1907, Bertha BECKLER. I think this is the Bertha P. BECKLER, b. January 1882, daugher of William I. and Wilhelmina L. BECKLER of Philadelphia, and granddaugher of Ignatz BECKLER, b. abt. 1830 in Munich, Germany, who was a restaurant keeper in Philadelphia in the 1880 census. Other siblings of William I. BECKLER in the 1880 census were sisters Emma, Bertha, and Pauline.

Arthur Charles JAMES, Sr. and Bertha P. BECKLER had one child, Arthur Charles JAMES, Jr., b. 1909-1911. He married and had two children, whose names I do not know. I would be very interested in any additional information about this family and about the descendants of Arthur Charles JAMES, Jr.

In your message, you have a female by the last name of Goudge from Mahanoy City, PA. According to the Census in 1900, my greatgandparents, William and Cora Goudge and my grandfather, Henry (Harry) and great aunt Emily resided in Mahanoy City. I'm sure there is some connection because Mahanoy City is not that big. I remeber my great aunt Emily Goudge (Mills). My grandfather, Henry (Harry) passed away when I was an infant. My husband and I just visted his grave last week in Sylco TN.
It says on his tombstone Ferdinand. We found Faithy Beckler and Caroline Beckler Lindner grave's in Reliance TN.

I am trying to locate a Shirley Beckler (not sure if her married name or maiden name) of Wooster, Ohio in Wayne County. She had a half brother named Charles Hoy who passed away in 1998. He had done some research on the Hoy Family of Wooster, Ohio back to the early 1800's. He had a daughter named Connie (Hoy) McWilliam of Sutterlin, Oregon and a nephew Troy Bell. I am hoping to make contact with any of those individual's to see by chance if any of them would still have Charles Hoy research information. My ggg Grandfather David Hoy (born in 1838) and his brother James Hoy (born in 1840) both were born in Wooster, Ohio. I am trying to see if there was a connection on my family to the family of Charles Hoy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry not to have responded any sooner. We had a small reunion of Becklers and decendants in May. "Third Sunday" as we have always called it. We meet and compare and updated any records we have gotten. My cousin Randy Beckler has most of the records and the family Bible. He is able to keep it in a vault for temp and humidity control. Are you able to scan the pictures you have? My email address in wrong in the info. It should be @hotmail.com. I would really appreciate seeing the pictures. Andrew, My g-g-g-grandfather, Daniel came to Waldoboro, Maine in 1751 as a child of about 3 years.
He married Elizabeth Miller in 1777 and he fought in the Rev.War. Later he moved his family to the

You might try the name Manker for suzanna. I just found out someone posted my Grandmothers name as Mauker? she was Nancy Helen Manker and her father was John N. Manker they all lived in Pike County Ill. It would be interesting to find out if they are related?

I am also looking for the Beckler/Beckley connection in PA. I have a transciption of Peter Beckler's will and info from the censuses of Athens County, OH but haven't been able to make the jump to PA. There are a Daniel and John Beckley in Northumberland County, PA in 1820 and then again in Athens County, OH in 1830. I haven't been able to find Peter in 1820. I assume you are related to Levi and Nancy Delzell Hannen from Iowa. I am related to her sister Ura Katherine Delzell Foster. I have a picture of the two of them together if you would like a copy. the books that i have read about him say he came to the in the winter of 1736? (maybe not), they lived is a unheated shed with 50 other people that winter, his family stayed/ or had deid in germany, so the miller family raised him in maine(mass. in the 1700's). he married the miller daughter. and this is my g-g-g-g-g-grandfather. my grandmother still lives in the house he had built in the late 1700's. please email me back at with your address. andrew
