Hi,looking for a John Beckley/Berkley b.1875 in Covelly Devon. Moved to swansea and married Mary Owen b.1873. Married in 1901 at Kilvey parish church.He was a railway platelayer.Is there any more information anyone can tell me after 1901? Any children?

I have a John Beckley born in 1875 in Woolfardisworthy Devon. If you know the area you will know that Clovelly, Bradworthy, Hartland and Woolfardisworthy is within a few miles of earch other. I have his parentage if you are interested and think there might be a connection.

I do not know the area, but on the 1901 census in wales i have a John Berkley b.1875 he was a platelayer . On census he was born in Clovelly Devon and i think he was living before he married my family member Mary Owen, with Thomas and Sarah Stevens also of Clovelly Devon. On Mary Owen and John Berkley marriage cert. John's father was also John Berkley deceased and he was a labourer. They married on March 20th 1901. If its the same family could i have his mothers name please?, and date they married.would help me fill in a loose end. Again thank you.

Thanks for your reply. I think your John Beckley and mine are the same. John Beckley had an aunt named Sarah Jane Beckley who married a Thomas Stevens. John and two brothers were born out of wedlock to Emily Beckley born 1861 in Woolsery Nr Clovelly North Devon. Emily married a John Johns in 1887 and at that time changed her name to Emma. Our family descend from Emily Beckley as our grandfather was one of John Beckleys brothers. We can give you information on the Beckley family back to 1796 so far if you are interested. Please make contact if you require more information.

John Beckley married my grandfathers,[David Owen b.1894]sister Mary Owen b.1873 on 23 March 1901, i have a copy of wedding cert. On the 1901 census Mary Owen's family lived on the same street as Thamas Stevens family Pascoe street, after they married they lived they lived at 122 pentrechwyth Rd. Hope we both have the same. I do not know any more about them after 1901, did they have children? do you know names and dates? Any stories about them? Could i have John Berkley date of birth and his mother and fathers name if poss.?
Do you wish to know about Mary's family? I can help, I have them going back to 1851 on census, but now i have hit a wall. Have a lot of loose ends trying to find all. Do you know more?

John Beckley's mother was Emily Beckley b:28.02.1861 she died on 17 Dec 1924 in Bideford Hospital, North Devon. She had John, Albert J and Arthur William Beckley before she married so I do not know who his father was. She seems to have been quite a lady and married a John Johns on 18 Aug 1887 in a Registry Office in the Holsworth area. This was her first marriage and his 4th. There were several children from this marriage. Johns lived with his grandparents who were James Beckley who married Mary Ann nee Mugford. Have you looked at my family tree on Ancestry. It is under the name The Beckley Family. If so you can get a lot of information there. I have got more information than on my tree as I have a large tree drawn out and pinned on my wall. If you look up James Beckley on the 1881 Census for Woolfardisworthy, Devon you will see John lived with him. In 1991 John was an agricultural labourer but I know nothing of him until 1901 Census or after. I will willingly fill you in on anything re other brothers and sister and relations if you can't view my tree. Please don't hesitate to contact me again I'm quite happy to help if I can.

You have made my year. Will do what you said to do next week about John in Devon. Also next week i will check to see if mary and john had any children baptised or christenend. If i have any luck will let you know, also will check if they died in Swansea.
Just hope now that Swansea will win the last football game of season and i will be smiling untill next week.

I would like photos of Emily Beckley and of Sarah Jane Beckley, these will be my first photos. My family line is from Sarah Jane Beckley brother, John Beckley[Berkley]. He married [into my family] Mary Owen in Swansea on 23-3-1901. I know nothing after that about them. Will have to wait until the next census release in 2011 to find out if they had any children. Do you have any information?

Hi its me again,After i had your reply its made me dig around again. I now have two birth cert. of the children of John and Mary[Owen] Beckley. Elizabeth 25-12-1901, and William James 9-8-1904. There is another daughter Mary Emma Beckley Sept. 1907, but had no time to find her. I'm still trying to find the death cert. of Mary Beckley the wife of John. I can not find it at all.Any idea's?
