Bill Beckner-Buckhannon, WV

I think my paternal grandfather was Bill Beckner who lived in Buckhannon, WV. I am not sure of his birthplace but was most likely in WV. He was probably born somewhere around 1910 and died probably in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I do not share this surname but have been told that Bill Beckner is my biological grandfather. Any information about him or his known family would be greatly appreciated.

Newbould Cannon [daughter Elizabeth's husband] was the administrator of Mary's will. I have a death date of 25 Aug 1845 for Mary. This info came from a secondary source.

The two Frederick's mentioned come from different branches of the family. Your Frederic III, s/o Frederic II, s/o Frederic Goodrich, s/o Siegel, s/o Daniel W, s/o Daniel [Jr], s/o Daniel [Sr], s/o Johan Nicholas [Jr], s/o Johan Nicholas [Sr]. Your family came from PA to Botetourt Co, VA. Daniel [Sr] and wife moved to Montgomery Co, OH - where they died. Son, Daniel [Jr] and wife moved to Dallas Co, Mo around 1850. His son, Daniel W, ended up in Laclede Co, MO. His son Siegel, had a large sawmill business in LA, AR, and TX. They lived in TX. Son Frederic went to CA and was involved in the mining business around Nevada City. You probably know the history from there, I imagine. Please let me know if you need more info.
The Frederick [who md Mary Locke] comes from the line of Johan Nicholas [Sr]'s son, Peter. Peter and wife, Mary, come from PA, to Hampshire Co, VA [now WV] and then to Fleming Co, KY. Frederick and Mary Locke lived in Fleming Co, but ended up in Lewis Co, MO where they died.

There is no info prior to Johan Nicholas Beckner that is confirmed, to the best of my knowledge, and I am always looking. You may see some reports that the family came from Baden, Germany. This is a possibility, but is unsubstantiated at this time.
I might be able to help you, although I am not sure what data you are looking for....I show that Joseph Franklin "Frank" Beckner had 8 children by his first wife, Laura, and one son by his second wife, Lucy. The Gilbert you spoke of would be Ivan Gilbert Beckner [by first wife]. The Uncle Luke you mentioned would be Luther Allen "Lute" Beckner - brother to Joseph Franklin Beckner.

Good morning. My branch is the Frederick and Mary Locke Beckner line. I was in Lewis county last year; copied Frederick's will and papers. I would like to share what I have, gather more if you have it. Mary's will, for instance; I didn't find that. Also, where are Frederick and Mary buried? I've also followed all of their children one generation. I have followed my gggggrandmother Elizabeth Ann Beckner Cannon down the line to me. I have pictures of her tombstone with husband Newbold Cannon.
I will be glad to copy and mail, or email all that I have.
Pam West

Peter L. Beckner

I show that Peter L. Beckner, son of Frederick Beckner & Mary Locke Beckner married a Mary "Polly" Arnett Ledford in Bath County, KY on 31 May 1821. In searching census to document the path of their descendent, Thomas A. Beckner, I find a Peter Beckner in Bath County, KY in 1840 and another Peter Beckner in Nicholas County, KY in 1840; looking at the tic marks, it appears that either could possibly be my Peter L. Beckner. Does anyone have any definitive answer.
Hello,
Would Cassie have been married to an Edward Roberts (husband 1) and then last to a Cyrus Groover Vaughan/Vaughn(3nd husband)? If so, it will get complicated. Cyrus Vaughn was my grandmothers first husband, Alice Myrtle Mullenax, they had two daughters, Belva and Gertrude.

They divorced and I had lost track of Cyrus and until I found him in the census records near Belva and found that he married again. Alice Mullenax went on to marry James Arthur Polston and they lived in Nebraska City. Alice ran the Burglington Cafe near the railroad depot and James Arthur was a foreman for the railroad.

Cyrus and Alice's daughter, Belva, was married to Joseph "Joe" Roberts and his father was Edward Roberts. Which could have been Cassie's first husband.

DATE: 1900

Source: Ancestry.com
1900 Census
Dist. 100, Four Mile Precinct, Otoe Co., Nebraska
15 June 1900
Line 131
Roberts, Edward, head, w, m, Dec. 1876, 26 years old, married for 5 years, born in Missouri, Father born in Massachusetts, Mother born Unknown, Farm laborer, can read, write & speak English.
, Cassie, wife, w, f, Jan or June 1878, 20 yrs old, married for 5 years, born in Nebraska, Father born in Missouri, Mother born in Illinois, can read, write & speak English.
, Hasel ?, dau., w, f, Sept 1895, 4 yrs old, single, born in Nebraska
, Joseph A., son, w, m, Feb. 1883, 3 yrs old, single, born in Nebraska

DATE: 1910

Source: Ancestry.com
1910 Census
Dist. 139, Otoe Precinct, Otoe Co., Nebraska
19 April 1910
Line 34
Vaughan, Curus G., head, m, w, 24, married for 3 yrs, 1st marriage, born in Iowa, parents born in Missouri, speaks English, farm laborer on farm, can read & write, renting home.
, Alice M., wife, f, w, 19, married for 3 yrs, 1st marriage, born in Nebraska, father born in Iowa, speaks English, mother born in Illinois, can read & write.
, Gertrude M., f, w, 3, single, born in Iowa.

DATE: 1920

Source: Ancestry.com
1920 United States Federal Census
Dist. 51, Rhoda Twp, Charles Mix Co., South Dakota
13-14-16 Feb 1920
Line 129
Vaughn, Grover, head, renting home, m, w, 35, married, can read & write, born in Missouri, parents born in U.
