Hi Faye, I hope 12 years isn't too late to respond to your message:-)
I'm the daughter of Fred Becks who you mention in your note to Cindy Carlson. Lots of Freds and Bills in the line up! I remember Dad visiting with Bill and Chick at various times. One in Munising and one in Manistique, I believe. I have a Becks family tree on Ancestry which is public. Easiest way to find it is to search for Frederick W. Becks born 1877. Heading to Manitoulin this summer and have been tracking down Grandpa Fred Becks' siblings and their spouses, etc. I'm not sure I have everybody on your Grandparents' branch. See what you think.
Pat

Was just checking the message site for Beckses and came across your message and correspondence with Faye. I'm the daughter of Fred, noted in your message.
OHH! Exciting!!! Could you scan the photo and send as an attachment? We seem to be of the same generational line...my Dad's Dad was Frederick William Becks son of William Henry Becks brother of Thomas and also son of James Coleman Becks. I can give you my email if that would work. Take a look at my Becks Family tree on ancestry to see what happened with William Henry Becks' family after he went to Canada. I have some pictures attached to it. None of Wm. Henry, though :-( I am so glad to hear from you. I've been working on the Becks family and have been totally unable to get back before James C's marriage to Hephzibah.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Pat

I am gathering information on all of the Beck's because I have several cousins who have descended from the various lines. Please let me know if you would be willing to share information.
My great great great great grandfather was Micajah Beck, Sr. I am descended from his daughter, Lucy, who married Hastin Hall. I was wondering if you had any luck finding Micajah's parents?

I would also like to get some info from you about your line. Right now, the only info I have on William Scott Beck is what I read in your post. I will be more than happy to give you what I have on Lucy or the info I have on William Scott Beck's brother, Andew Broadus Beck.

My email address is mander@virginia.edu

Thanks!
Amanda

Dear Helen,
You must have been named for dear Helen McCullough of Maryland. I do miss her so when doing genealogy. Just happened to come across your note from 2003 so I am doubtful this will get to you. However, I too have been working on Micajah for years. I have always felt that he was brother to Jesse Beck and Williaim and Andrew who lived near by and all shared the same names with their children, but have not been able to get any concrete information. Let me know if you get this. Gayle Miller

looking for John Becks (or maybe beck as mention on the 1841 wales census) who married Catherine Simpson. They were both shown on the 1851 census as working as a quarryman at Porthgain Tip, Llanrian, Pembrokeshire. also shown is a possible named Catherine born abt 1850, but I have not found anything else about her, and she is not on any other census. Soon after 1851 they must have all moved to Kettering, probably because the railway was being built at the time, and John was shown as a rly contracter on his children's birth cert. As John was a contractor he was always away at the time of the other censuses and I have been unable to find any definate record of him since, over than he was allways mentioned as the father on the birth certificates of the children.
Micajah Beck (my great, great, great grandfather)

My sister and I are searching for the parents of Micajah Beck, Sr. He was born ca. 1774 in Albemarle Co., Va. (this could be wrong & may be Orange Co., Va.) He married Sarah Carver around 1796. She was born ca. 1775 in Virginia (we don't know the county). His children are listed as Jarrel Broadus Beck, James R. Beck, William Beck, Reuben Beck, Lucy Beck, Mary Catherine Beck and Micajah Beck, Jr. He was listed in some tax records in 1857 but was not listed in 1858. We assume this is when he died. Most records read that he died ca. 1850. I descend from his son, Jarrel Broadus Beck who fathered William Scott Beck who was the father of my grandmother, Alice Linwood Beck McCullough. We feel we hit a brickwall every time we try to go back to Micajah's parents.

Dear Beatrice Weaver
I am from Denmark. While looking through the Beck message board I saw your note. I decided to check the electronic Danish emigration database for Peter Therkildsen but no luck. However I happened to see that his sister Bothilde Maria Beck was listed as emigrating to New York.
The following information was given:
Bothilde Maria Beck,20,NY,4911,7/21/1892,1,1,Esbjerg,USA,I9192B2407
I do not know exactly what it means but she was obviously 20 years old in 1892 when she left Denmark
Esbjerg is the biggest port on the West coast of Denmark
I do not know what the numbers 4911 and I9192B2407 stands for.
Good luck with your search.

Soren beck

Nice Surprise....

It was a nice surprise for me to find so many Becks people in the USA. In Holland we have Becks too but I don't know if, far away, they are related to the USA branch. Many years ago my father ( he died for 11 years) did some investigations about our 'roots' He went back till 1636 when a Balthazar Becks became citizen from Staelburgh, a town or village somewhere I guess in Germany or Poland ?? The next he found was Willem Becks he lived in Nijmegen first half 18th century.( were I was born too) . I am curious if some USA Becks originally also come from Germany or Poland. Kind regards Ine Becks
