I have a copy of the Beckwith Family Tree dating from 1131. It includes Hugh Malebisse. The tree was done by English/Australian relatives, and does not contain any information about the American side of the family. (the tree only goes as far as 1878 and only includes the English Beckwiths.)

I know my branch of the family comes from the Lyme-New London area of CT.

Does anyone want to work with me on this HUGE project?

Looking for information on the children of David Beckwith of Perry Co OH. Information I have gathered indicates that David Beckwith married Catherine Justice. He moved from Frederick county Md with many other families of Frederick Co Md such as Carmack, Justice, Chilcote, McLain, Dodson, and White's to Bedford Co Pa where he stayed until around 1800. He moved on to Ohio (Muskingum, and Perry Co) where he died.
I believe he had a brother George that settled in Morgan Co. OH, next to Muskingum and Perry Co OH.
I am trying to determine if Susan Beckwith, wife of Allen McLain, son of Jacob from Muskingum county is David's daughter.

My ggg-grandmother is Amanda Francis Beckwith who was born in GA (I think). She married James Sculley who was born in Rhode Island according to census records. He must have died young because she is listed as a widow with childreb in her father's household. Their son, William Dennis Sculley is my line. According to the census, her parents were William and Mary Beckwith. The only dates that I have is that William Dennis was born in 1873 and that James died before the 1880 census. Any help would be appreciated. email emilybearden@yahoo.com

Beckwith/Clatworthy to Canada

I am looking for an ancestor Gladys Ada Clatworthy who married Oscar Frederick Beckwith on 12th January 1918 at Wandsworth Register Office in London, England. He was at the time a private with the AMC and gave his residence as the CanadianConvalescent Camp, Epsom. I have looked at the shipping lists for the post-war period and found that a G A Beckwith female and adult travelled to Quebec from Liverpool in 1919. I wonder if anyone has any further information as to her subsequent whereabouts?

I am the great granddaughter of their daughter Matilda Beckwith Williams. I would be happy to exchange any info that I have with anyone else researching this line.

George Beckwith -St. Mary's County, Maryland 1600s

I am still beating my head trying to get through Paul Beckwith's book. I have found in the Archives of West Yorkshire the following evidence:

"Mar. 29 1610- George ye son of Mr. Tho: Beckwith of Acto was bapt." The same sheet shows "Nov. 29 1607- Ellyn ye daughter of Mr. Tho: Beckwith of Acto gent was baptised" and finally, " Feb. 28 1609- Richard ye son of Mr. Tho: Beckwith of Acto gent was bapt."

These children of Sir Thomas Beckwith of Acton match up with what Paul Beckwith has in his book. Has anyone ever seen any proof that this George Beckwith is the same George Beckwith brought to the colony of Maryland by Thomas Hatton in 1648? I cannot come up with any proof.

I have been told by my grandmother that there is a connection between the Beckwiths and the Beckworths, the latter being her 1st husbands family.I have also been told that the spelling was changed to differentiate the good[with]side from the bad[worth]side.Being stuck at my ggrandfather Eugene Beckworth born circa 1900,I can only guess at the possibilty that the bad side descended from a James Pierson Beckworth who was a freed slave from Virginia and the good side was concerned about the racial mix. Any info would be appreciated.

NovaScotian;NB, LymeCT;Who is Noble Beckwith's Dad

My maiden name is Janet Beckwith. My crowd emigrated to Nova Scotia in 1758 from Lyme CT. I believe my forebearer's name was Matthew (probably named after the original.) He took over lands deserted by Acadians after they were expelled. The grant was in Cornwallis
My great great grandfather was named "Noble" ( not a common handle). But somehow he arrived in Nova Scotia (the annapolis valley)from somewhere else in the early in the 1800's. We are not sure where he came from! We are pretty sure he was a decendent of Matthew the owner of the acadian lands.
The historical record of that area, says he came from New Brunswick. But these could simply have been shipping records.
Since the period from 1760 to 1815 contains the American revolution, my hypothesis is that someone left NS to go to the states to help with the war. When they got there they married, and had children. Noble is either a son or grandson of that union. But it creates a missing link in our family.Has anyone heard of a Nobel Beckwith?Who are his parent s and grand parents? Worden is a middle name in the family as is Hartz. This may provide a clue. Please get back by e-mail
The elder Beckwiths migrated to Ohio in 1811. We have names, DOB and DOD for Samuel's 9 siblings from family bible. We believe Perry's father was David (1742-1834). Would love to hear from anyone who can substantiate connection to David. Information on how this family connects to Mathew would be very much appreciated.

I have an original tintype photograph of “Mrs. Julia (Beckwith) Seiver”, sealed in a paper folder, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in probably about 1860, and she looks to be about age 40, give or take a few years.

I found in the 1850 census for Wyoming Co., NY that both a Julia Seiver and a few families by the name of Beckwith lived in Attica, NY. Julia was age 29, with daughter, Margaret, age 3, in 1850. Other Ancestry.com research shows that Julia Ann Beckwith was born in Suffolk Co., MA on 7 Jan 1818, so I am sure this is the same lady.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Julia Ann Beckwith Seiver.

My gggrandfather John S. Wright (b. ca 1819, Georgia?) married Mary Isabel Eve (b. 14 Nov 1825, Jefferson, Georgia) on 26 Jan 1848 at Baldwin County, Georgia. They lived at 1024 Reynolds Street, Augusta, Georgia from at least 10 May 1854 until he was buried in Magnolia Cemetery on 21 Oct 1882. (1861-5 they lived in Marietta, Georgia). Mary Isabel was buried in Magnolia Cemetery ca 1905. Their daughter, Sarah Laura (b. 19 Mar 1848, Georgia?) married Thomas Stanley Beckwith on 27 Jun 1872 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Augusta. I am unable to identify the ancestors, immediate family and other descendants of both John S. Wright and Thomas Stanley Beckwith.
