Looking for my Grandparent's grandparents/Octave Dubé/Mathilda Quain

My grandfather Robert Bedard married Jeanne Dubé and they had 9 kids (Richard, Diane, Lorraine, André, Mike, Donny, Rene, Denise, and my mother Joanne). (My mother married Paul Keating)

What I have of Robert Bedard's parents are Napoleon Bedard and Emelia Trempe. No other information...but I did hear that Robert (who left the family after my mom was born who had another family) shot himself because he apparently had cancer. I don't know when

My grandmother Jeanne Dubé's (1928-2002) parents were Octave Dubé and Mathilda Quain from what I gather...I have absolutely no information on them or beyond. All I know is that there is Indian (Aboriginal) in my family, no idea if it was great grandparents or beyond.

My family has been at a stand still for our heritage...I'm hoping to get more info for us.

By the way, my family is from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Possibly from Quebec the further you go?

If you have ANY questions feel free to message me or respond.

DanielKeating27@gmail.com

Isaac Bedard married to Marie Girard

Hey there fellow Bedards!

I am a direct descendant of Isaac, (90% sure)
the short story-

Isaac married Marie Girard, Birthed Louis Bedard
Louis married Marie Madeleline Huppe, Birthed Antoine Bedard
Antoine married Marguerite Gagnon, Birthed Thomas Antoine Bedard
Thomas A. married Marie Helene Bedard, who had Joseph Thomas Bedard
Joseph Thomas married Marie Anne Genest, who had Pierre Bedard
Pierre Married Madeline Rochette, and had Nazaire Bedard
Nazaire Married Henriette Anger, they had Joesph Alexandre Nazaire Bedard
Joseph A. N. Bedard Married Yvonne Daigle, and had My grandfather, who is Joseph George Charles August Bedard
Who then married Marjorie Greeno, and had Michael Bedard
who had me and my sister.

so, anyway. following that line, I seem to have found a road block..

Jaques Bedard, who married Marie Guerineau, is apparently Isaac's father and mother

anything beyond Isaac's parents is kind of half assed. no birthdates, death dates..

Also.. Antoine had a brother, Jacques Bedard, who married marie Anne Doyon and birthed Marie Helene Bedard

Marie Helene bedard married her first cousin? Thomas A. Bedard

does anyone else have that? I just want to make sure I did not confuse anything.

thanks

Jen Bedard

email me if you want to collaborate!
BEDARDJ@ROCKETMAIL.COM
Sorry, it was my great granfather who has the wives of Malins???? Mary Boise, and Lavendy Robinson. My grandfather was Henry Elswood, but always went by Elswood. He also had a couple of wives. The first being Florence Day. Supposedly she was buried with two children in her arms. I am thinking she probably died in childbirth. His second wife, my grandmother was Sarah Meliss Green, she is my grandmother.
I know when one wife died they always had another on the side. I have also heard that his wife was Lavendy Robinson who was suppoed to be a full blood Indian. What have you found out about this.
I am trying to find relatives from the 2nd marriage of Zoe Bedard born 1882. She used the name of Susie or Susan when she came to the US from Quebec. I have documentation of a marraige and a divorce to Joseph Nadeau (fitchburg MA) marriage abt 1900 and divorce about 1908 she had a daughter which she left with her exspouse. She subsiquently remarried after the divorce but I am having trouble finding who her 2nd marraige was to. I am told Zoe (Susie) died abt 1945 in Massachusetts but I do not have documentation for this. Anyone with information regarding her or her second family would be greatly appreciated.
I have family in North Bay still. My grandmother Delvina Bedard (not sure of maiden name) and my grandfather was Gerard Bedard. Both deceased. I am the son of Roger Bedard, and his brothers were Fernand, Rene, and others I forget. Also sisters, Rose, Lucille, and the other ones I forget. Any news on this, let me know :)

2nd Lt. Harry L. Bedard, Minneapolis, WWII MIA Identified
IMMEDIATE RELEASE	No. 539-11
June 22, 2011
Airmen Missing In Action from WWII Identified

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of five Army Air Forces servicemen, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and returned to their families for burial with full military honors.

2nd Lt. Harry L. Bedard, Minneapolis, will be buried on June 25 in Dayton, Minn.;

On April 3, 1945, Orcutt and his crew took off in their B-25J Mitchell bomber from Palawan Field, Philippines. The pilot of another aircraft in the flight reported seeing Orcutt's plane stall out and crash about one mile northeast of the village of Consolacion in a swampy area. There were no survivors.

In early 1947, personnel from the Army's Graves Registration Service recovered additional remains from the crash site and buried them as unknowns in Leyte, Philippines. Later that year, they were exhumed and transferred to Manila for possible identification. In 1949, a military review board declared these unknown group remains to be those of the aircrew and re-buried them at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.

Two years later, the Graves Registration Service returned to the crash site and recovered additional remains. The case was reanalyzed and a recommendation was made that the group remains at Jefferson Barracks be disinterred for individual identification. All remains from the crash site were examined with no resulting identification. They were reburied at the same location. A sister of one of the airmen contacted the Army in 2001 upon learning of the recovery of additional remains in the 1950s. The Army then disinterred the group remains at Jefferson Barracks in 2008 which were taken to the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) in Hawaii for identification.

Among forensic identification tools and circumstantial evidence, scientists from JPAC used dental comparisons and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory used mitochondrial DNA -- which matched that of relatives of the aircrew -- in the identification of these airmen.

At the end of the war, the U.S. government was unable to recover and identify approximately 79,000 Americans. Today, more than 73,000 are unaccounted-for from the conflict.

For additional information on the Defense Department's mission to account for missing Americans, visit the DPMO website at http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo or call 703-699-1169.

U.S. Department of Defense
Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Public Affairs)

http://www.defense.gov/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=14595

******************
Posted for genealogical information only.

In my research of the Bedard family in Massachusetts I found a grave site at St John's Cemetary in Lancaster, MA of an Alfred and Aurea Bedard. The cemetary has been open since 1876 and the grave marker is small and very worn so I cannot tell the death date for either one. Any information on these 2 people would be appreciated as I would like to fit them into my tree.

Thank you

JoAnn Bedard

Charlebourg Quebec Canada Historical has much more info.on the Bedards. They have traced the Bedard name back as far as the 14th century.ALL Bedards in North America are a direct descendants of Isaac Bedard. From LaRochelle France, very involved in the church, some indication that the family at one time was part of the church security( guards of the Pope )Later families converted to Protestant faith, then back to Catholic before entering Canada.Left France at time of reformation.

I have Rosanna married to Johbn Warren, children Albert, Delbert & Mary Ellen. I also have Elizabeth Bedore bc1905 d/o Wm Thomas Bedore b1874 and Mary Samantha Warren. Other is Benjamin Botting b1844 married Almira Warren b1838 d/o David & Fanny. She is sister of John Warren who married Roxanna. Do I not have a second marriage for Roxanna but would be interested to know if you found one.
My line is Porter Badour in Sharbot Lake. You know all the Bedor/Badour/Bedore are related in this area. I have tracked them from Quebec, through the land grant in 1820 Lanark and into Frontenac County. I have produced a genealogy book called Legends and Lines.
Judi
Napanee, Ont

Hi Chuck, I am following this line because I do have Badour/Bedore relatives in Ontario. I have seen the photo of Bedore's in the buggy ... I got my copy from a descendant who had the original on his wall. I am most interested in Francis Bedard and 'his first wife Marie Challecourt'. Can you elaborate on this? I have Francis married to Lorinda Robinson. I am looking for the first wife of Alexander Bedard, brother of Francis, who was supposed to be a Courtemache. I have his second and third wifes, but the first, mother of Simon Peter Bedard born 1838 US has never been identified. Please help.
Judi
Ontario

Hi Judi,

Thanks for the followup regarding Indian ancestry in the Bedard Line......

My ancestor was Marie Louise Bedard born about 1810, not sure where but she seems to have spent a reasonable time prior to her marriage in Ste Marie de Monnoir (Marievile) PQ. Louise Bedard married Gregoire Berard on the 3 August 1830 at Ste Marie de Monnoir (Marieville)and as I mentioned previously in my other posting no surname was recorded for M.Louise on the marriage record, nor any parents or family. The only people recorded by the priest in relation to M.Louise were "friends of the bride".....and these were Ambroise Patenaude and Simon Seguin.

It is not until the baptism her third child that a surname is recorded for her, and that is when the surname Bedard appears.

Obviously there was some "stigma" surrounding my ancestor, perhaps she was illegitimate, this seems the likely explanation. Interestingly I find only one Bedard who has any later connection with Louise, as the godmother of one her children, and that is Charlotte Bedard d/o Jean-Baptiste Bédard and Charlotte Brodeur dit Lavigne. Being the godmother of one of Louise's children seems to be the only contact Charlotte Bedard has with Louise. Charlotte Bédard married Joseph Ostilly dit Domingue on the 19 July 1814 at Ste-Marie-de-Monnoir PQ (Marieville).

To date I find no other Bedard who seem to have any connection or contact with Louise throughout her life.

Louise Bedard and her husband, Gregoire Berard, left Ste Marie de Monnoir (Marieville) in about 1836-37 and went to live at Berkshire Vermont, they had a brief return across the border living in the Potton/Mansonville PQ area for a short time before moving back into the US where they lived in the Troy/Jay Vermont area.
