I have Jabez Hancock(b. 1753)and Temperance (Tamme)Beebe m. probably Longmeadow MA prior to 1790; they are in the census as Jabez Hancock Jr w/female child ( who is Tamme m. Kibbe/Kibber - same family is in Longmeadow same time). Father Jabez ( Silas Jabez) Hancock is in same census as is Temperance's father James Beebe.

The 2nd child of Temperance/Tamme Beebe m. Jabez Hancock Jr. is Jabez B. Hancock born NY (per censuses) 1793.

I need "paper proof" of that birth to link all of the family. Jabez B. Hancock married Eleanor/Elanor Alger, dau. Serrill Alger and Polly jackson of Boston Erie Co. NY and Jabez and Eleanor have 2 children in Erie Co and move to Yorkshire,Cattaragus Co, NY in 1830 in time for Jerusha (Charlotte Jerusha birth name on our family lists) Hancock to be born 1830. She married Daniel Brown ( son of Reuben Brown and Amanda Converse in Feb 1848. That is my husband's line.

Harvey Beebe son of David and Esther (Peate) Beebe

Back in the early 1990s Mary Beebe then Editor of the Beebe Connection Newsletter, found Harvey’s pension at the Archives in Washington, D. C. It was comprised of two 11” by 17” manila folders full of Depositions, Examiners Reports, etc. It pretty well proved that Harvey was a habitual liar and scammer who likely had a number of pensions under more than one name. He was married twice; once under a false name while living with another woman who may or may not have been actually married to him. I have added only a couple of the many documents listed because it is interesting. Please remember that they should likely NOT be considered as facts.
Harvey BEEBE. Declaration of Survivor for Pension. Mexican Wars, Claim #439... dated 8 June 1887. State of New York, County of Oneida. Harvey BEEBE, a resident of Utica. Served as a Pvt in Co. B, commanded by Cpt. Wm. L. WALDRODT, 10 Regt, US Inf under command of Col. Robt. E. TEMPLE in the War with Mexico; Enlisted at Utica, NY, on or about the 28 April 1847, for duration of the war, and was honorably discharged at Ft. Hamilton, on the _day Aug 1848. I actually served the US in Mexico as set forth by the records of my Co., and Regt as aforesaid. 56 years of age, born at Madison Co, NY, 18 March 1831. That I am dependent on others than those legally bound for my support for my livelihood.
25 Sept 1901 -No. 439 -Special Examiner W. T. CATHCART, Dayton, Montgomery Co, OH. Witness Harvey BEEBE the soldier has the reputation of telling some "whoppers" and is regarded by some as "not quite right in the upper story". I rate him wholly unreliable. Anna BEEBE, who is regarded as his wife here, and who lives with him as such, has a conveniently defective memory. She, from this cause, if not from others lying deeper is also unreliable and the nephew John S. FOWLER is perhaps no better. His Captain at the Home considers him unbalanced and a more nervous man I seldom, if ever saw. I rate "hardly fair" in this case. The wandering fever is on him again and he purposes going to Hampton, VA.
The Dept. of Interior, Bureau of Pensions, Norfolk, VA. December 11th, 1901. Sir: Referring to the case of Harvey BEEBE, Co. B, 10th U.S.Inf. Cert. 439, Mexican War, I have the honor to state that he stated before me, under oath, that in addition to his pension he is receiving $8, a month as an inmate of the Soldiers Home, at Washington, D.C. I strongly suspect that he is drawing more that one pension, as he admiths that he has also been known as C.G. SWEET. Wm. F. TANNER. C.J. JOHNSON and Harry BEEBE, And in his deserted wifes claim it appears that he is also known as Charles J. Beebe.
John S. Taicher, Special Examiner.
16 May 1901. Deposition "A", McGrawville, Cortland Co, NY. Melissa BEEBE, 71 years. is claiming 1/3 pension on account of desertion. Deserted April 13, 1893 by Harvey BEEBE She was married to the soldier under the name Melissa WARREN and he was married to me under the name Charles J. BEEBE, Sept 19, 1874 at Rome, Oneida Co, NY by George W. DAVIS, JP. Had only known husband two or three weeks before they married. Met him at Mr. CONGERS in Sangerfield, Oneida Co, NY where they were both picking hops. She was at that time living in Annsville, Oneida Co, NY and owned a farm there of 46 acres of land. Didn't know whether husband had been previously married, he claimed he was single. (Here she talks about a couple previous marriages I have omitted). "You say you were married to your husband as Charles J. BEEBE when and how did you learn that his name war Harvey BEEBE?" We were riding along the road in Madison Co, NY and we met an old man by the road side who said to my husband, "Hello Harv, where have you kept yourself?" Then I said to my husband, how is it that you are called Harvey when you have always represented to me that your name was C.J. BEEBE. Well, he said my correct name is Harvey BEEBE but I did not like the name so I changed it to Charles J. BEEBE the name of my father. After this I always called his name Harvey BEEBE. “Did you ever go by the name of Melissa M. CHASE?” (There were other documents where Harvey gave her surname as Chase)
No, sir I never did. My given name was Mary Melissa but my maiden name was not CHASE, I never went by the name of CHASE. It should be noted that Anna Sherman submitted a noterized copy that she was m. to Harvey Beebe. at the time of marriage to Melissa, and was never divorced. Also 3 years before he deserted Mary he appeared in the 1900 census with Anna Sherman as his wife.
Moses Beebe's wife, Marian, was a sister to your Daniel Gumaer's wife, Sarah Cobb. I'm sure that Daniel didn't come to give testamony personally. Most of the affadavits from pension files were done by mail. Also, women at that time in history were thought to "belong" to their husband's and anything they owned became the property of the husband.

Sharon

Hi Susanne:

My last post contains the information you asked about- including Hannah Hubbard's birth 1783 NJ, Monmouth, NK and death dates 1850 Winslow, Camden, NJ. Also find her parent's information there.

I'm very new at this. I don't have any hard copy documents to prove the information. I got the information and whatever sources mostly from the Watson Family Tree on this site... At first it didn't show info on Hannah Hubbard but click her profile then click back on her family tree and you will see info on her b, d, parents information, etc.

The sources used are mentioned on their profiles. Check the profile of Daniel Beebe, Hannah Hubbard, Elijah Hubbard and Abigail Dickinson off of the family tree.

I hope this helps.
I received the three messages you sent about Asahel Beebe and his family. Thank you so much for the information. I have been trying to find documentation or a source to prove Daniel and Elizabeth are Asahel's parents. Do you have this information? You mentioned that you did not have Hannah Beebe's birth date. She is listed on the 1850 Camden County, Winslow Township census living with Albert Hankins and wife, Jane (Hannah's youngest daughter.) I used this entry as a source for her birth date.My gr gr gr grandfather is William Howard Beebe, Asahel's son born 19 Aug. 1816 in Millville, NJ. He married Anna Akins 2 Aug 1834 in Gloucester Co. and died in Salem City, Salem Co. NJ 24 Oct 1881. His birth record is verified by his death certificate plus his headstone at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Millville. Marriage is in "Gloucester County Marriages" by H. Stanley Craig. The NJ Archives has his death certificate. Salem County Historical Society also has Bible records.I would be glad to share whatever information I have on the Beebe family plus the location of the sources I am using. Just let me know what you would like. I plan to travel to NJ in about a week to research several families and the Beebe family is one of them. Again I would like to thank you for the information you sent. It was very helpful and most appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you again.Susanne

Hi Robin,

Here is my direct Beebe line, but I also have many Day-Beebe connections in CT late 1700's, Winhall VT late 1700's to early 1800's & in NY early-mid 1800's.

1.John Beebe + Rebecca Ladd England

2.Samuel Beebe b. 1633 England d. 1712 Plum Island NY + Mary Keeney

3. Jonathan Beebe b. 1674 d. 1761 East Haddam CT + Bridget Brockway

4. William Beebe b. 1706 + Phoebe

5. Anna Beebe b. 1731 East Haddam CT + Jabez Chapman b. 1731 East Haddam d.1801

6. Anna Chapman b. 1759 East Haddam CT + Russell Day b. 1756 Colchester CT d. 1829 Winhall VT

7. Nancy Day b. 1781 Colchester CT or Winhall VT d. 1814 Peru VT + Dr. Silas Clark b. 1768 Westminster MA d. 1850's Schuyler NY

and so on

The latest Beebe connection is the marriage of my 2Ggrandfather's cousin Julia Goo to Nelson Dudley Beebe who I believe was a descendant of one of the Beebe's from Winhall CT, probably Asa>Asa Jr.> Dudley. That's just a guess though.

Hope you got my previous message re Smeads. I keep getting replies from someone else in this thread.

Barbara

A friend gave me a picture of Phoebe Marryatt Beebe (no date most likely late 1880's), wife of Lyman Beebe. Picture was in a box of old books purchased in Williamsport, Pa in 1970 at an antique auction. On the back of the picture is very informative Beebe family info. My friend would like for a close family member to have this picture. If you are interested, please leave message.

Seeking information on Asahel Beebe living in the Cumberland County area of New Jersey from about 1800 to about 1850. Wife is Hannah Hubbard born in New Jersey about 1783. They had nine children all in the Cumberland or Camden County area. He paid taxes for property in the Millville area. Some say his father is Daniel Beebe but so far I have no proof. Does anyone have any information and documentation on Asahel Beebe from New Jersey for his birth, marriage, death or his parents?

Ample documtion available on Alonzo and his family. Alonzo killed a man in WA that he thought was with his wife,Mary Cantrell, he was convicted but ran to CA before he could be put in jail. He had another brother that went to San Quentin Prison and another went to another CA State Prison but was later released. Both for murders. Two other brothers fought with axes in ones front yard in Oregon until on died. These are all documented events. Alonzo’s case mentioned above is data is taken from Records of District Court first Judicial District of Washington Territory in 1862 and involves two cases; Washington Territory vs A. S. Beebe and Cantrell vs Philo Beebe. Data should be available at the State Archives, Eastern Region, Eastern Washington University, Cheney, WA, 99004. If the 1990 issues of the Beebe Connection Newsletter, you will find articles I wrote on all the above events. Alonzo’s approximate birth date (abt 1823) and marriage (Sep 1849) to Betsy taken from records available in MI. So is Pollys in (Dec 1851.

Census and other data show Lyman son of Harry Beebe. Lyman his brother Edward and his father Harry are all shown in the 1860 census of Franklin, PA.Harry and Lyman are also in the 2850 census of Franklin.

Here is a clue. In 1930 Ray O. is easily found. It shows his father b. MI and his mother b. Canada. If you check the 1900 census of Elk Rapids, Antrim, MI you will find a Mary Beebe, age 34, b. Jan 1866 in Canada. She is the mother of 3 living children and she is shown as a divorced servant and living with Henry Smith. She also has a daughter Dottie, age 7 b. Feb 1893 in Michigan. No other children as show with her in the census. So you may assume that she had to place the other 2 living children somewhere else or they might be with her x husband.

Ray and Sadie are in Chilicothe, IL in 1930. He is age 39 and she is age 36 and they m. about 1911/12. They have in 1930 a son Clyde age 17 and daughters Ilene age 12 and John age 9.
This is a correction to my tree on ancestry "Lyons Lorman Family Tree".
Kirklon S Beebe was married to Elizabeth Angeline Marsh. In my previous tree, I had Angie McCrakin as his spouse, which many people copied into their tree. The incorrect information was from a family member's memory and was corrected upon finding a family bible with the correct information. Please see my tree if you are interested in updating you tree to the most current information that I have. Thanks

In my family tree I got Raymond Beebe married to Ada Elizabeth Carpenter. With a son named Franklin Delano Beebe married to Rhoda Hout. The problem I am having is in the Obits it says that Ada maiden name is Long. Do I have the wrong Raymond and Frank or is Ada maiden name Long?

First thanks for answering me. I got all that info. but I was hoping some one might have found a birth certificate or death certificate for him. I do have one more question that has been driving me crazy all day. I thought I remember reading some where that Nelson A. Beebe got into some kind of trouble. Have heard or know anything about that.
Thank Again for answering me.

Alonzo S. Beebe

Alonzo S. Beebe Married Besty Whaling, Polly Wilcox and Mary Cantrall. Had a daughter Laura Jane. I was wondering if anyone had proof of when he was born and when he died. I have nothing on this man at all. Any clues where to look.
Thanks Lois Rockwell

Hi! I have a family tree reflecting the 1650 transatlantic voyage with John Beebe (original) with 4 or so sons and three daughters on board. I will dig it up and check it out. I believe the father, John, died en route. will get back to you (am bookmarking).

deb beebe
