This is a reply to everyone interested in a possible Peebler = Beeler connection:

You will probably want to know this, but it is kind of bad/good news:

Tresa Tatyrek and I conducted a DNA test of "Peebler" "Beeler" and "Peveler". We are not related to the Beeler family at all. The accuracy is about 98%. We are related to the Peveler family, however. Now, back to the drawing board: Who is his real father and mother?

Ron Johnson rondjohn@earthlink.net

Hi, just read your post about Louiza Ashe. This lady is my great-great-great grandmother through her marriage to John Crawford Beeler then down to my Wood side of the family. Very little has been found about Louiza (Louisa) and many of our family are still trying to trace her parents to either North Carolina or perhaps in Virginia where I live. I have a great deal of material on the Beeler side should you like to share and perhaps a name or two of contributors to that site who live/lived in Missouri. Connie Wood Jordan

Joe Beeler Country Cowboy Artist

Hello, my Beeler connection is William Crawford Beeler born 1/12/1857 in Knoxville, TN. Married Laura Lee Wood in 1886 in St James Mo. I have been told that the Cowboy Artist Joe Beeler who passed in 2006 was a member of this family line. Does anyone know how. I have recently purchased several articles (books) on his paintings and would like to share
that information with other family members if it is indeed correct. Thanks - Connie Wood Jordan

Hello,
I read this last message where you mentioned William Henry Harrison Beeler. I believe this is this is my great great grandfather. Was his son Granvell Cecil Beeler? We had a hard time finding William's father. We are fairly certain it was Samuel Beeler married to Elizabeth Beeler.
My family tree flows from Ulrich Bohler (Beeler)who came over approx 1720 to PA, father of John Valentine Beeler who then moved down closer to Bristol, NC(now TN), father of Peter Beeler moved down to Speedwell, TN, father of Samuel Beeler, father of William who was born in Missouri. Samuel (sometimes called Simon in the records) collected a great deal of land which he fought with his brother over (we think his name was John??) William's son then moved down to Middlesboro and had Granville Cecil Beeler and moved to Kingsport, TN where James Harrison Beeler SR who later had James Harrison Beeler, JR my father.
Does any happen to have any information on Ulrich's parents - I know this a great deal back, but we hit a roadstop here.

Hi,There-
I'm Stephanie Beeler, daughter of Steve (Phillip's son) and I have some information about the Beelers but like you I get stuck after Frank Sr's father. His name was William, and he died in 1922. He's buried in an unmarked grave in Greenlawn cemetary. My dad and I have just ordered a tombstone for him. His wife, Caroline, is buried in Grandview Cemetary. She died in 1912, and together they had 10 children. If your dad is Mark, then my dad knows him. I would love you to e-mail me so we can talk about this. Maybe together we can trace the Beelers. Also, have information on the Perdue family (EVA) that you will find very interesting. Please e-mail me. Stephanie Beeler

Looking for a William Beeler who was born in/near Beaver PA in 1849. His dad was supposed to be named Henry. I can't find any line which the dates would correspond. My dad is Stephen Beeler, son of Phillip, who was son of Frank Beeler. Frank's dad was William. If anyone has any information, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am looking for a missing family patriarch.

This man married "Nancy" abt:1859. They had the follwing children: Louisa b:1860, Tilghman Peter b:1862, Samuel b:1865, William H. b:1869, & Elnora b:1872.

Louisa "Lou" married Bill Dance
Peter married Martha Muncey
Samuel married Nora Adkisson
Elnora "Nora" married Byars Knisely
I don't have any record of William ever being married. He lived with their mother, Nancy, until she died in 1925.

I suspect that Nancy was married to "Isaac" Beeler. He died before the 1880 census. There is an Isaac and Nancy together in 1860 census and no where to be found in 1870.

If anyone has any idea about who the patriarch of this family is, please let me know.
I would certainly pay for a copy of his research if he chooses to make it available. Keep in touch! ~Mark in San Antonio, TX

Don't know if your query was ever answered as it was eight years ago. Julius C. and John Hacker were brothers. Julius was b. abt. 1808, John abt. 1806. Their father was Joseph Hacker, b. 1775 in Virginia. Joseph was the son of Julius J. Hacker, b. 1720--possibly in Germany. Julius J. was married to Martha Beeler who was a daughter of Ulrich Beuhler, the grandfather of Daniel. She was a sister of Daniel's father. Julius and Martha Beeler moved to Sullivan Co., Tennessee where many Beeler family members lived.
Joseph Hacker was married to Priscilla Hagerty, but that marriage took place in 1810 after John and Julius were born. So Joseph might have had an earlier wife, who was their mother.
I am a ggg grandaugher of Joseph, gg grandaughter of Julius and Elizabeth.

I am descended from Julius C. Hacker and Elizabeth Beeler Hacker through their son William Houston Hacker, born 1846.

I have firm documentation of the 1810 marriage of Joseph to Priscilla. But I have no information about the earlier date that you have listed in your post.

Do you have documentation or other explanation for the 1802 marriage date? If so could you share it with me? My e-mail is

evejune0494@windstream.net

Thank you.

Affidavit of D. H. Beeler, Grainger Co., Tennessee, 1919

The original of the following transcribed document was found in the 1888 Chancery Court case, William Idol, et al, vs. Rachael Beeler, held by the Grainger County Archives in Rutledge, Tennessee:

Wm Idol et al	}	No. 1011.
vs.	}	Chancery Court Rutledge, Tenn.
Rachael Beeler}	Clerk and Master’s Office

The deposition of D. H. Beeler taken before the Master, at his office, on this the 22nd day of July, 1919, in the above styled cause, in the presence of J. G. Waller, Esq., Attorney, representing the claimants in said cause
The said D. H. Beeler being duly sworn by the Master, deposes as follows:
Examination by Hon. J. G. Waller:
Q.	Please state your age, residence and occupation.
A.	I will be soon sixty-six years of age, having reached my sixty-fifth birthday, I reside at Liberty Hill, and am a farmer.
I am the son of Rachael Beeler mentioned in the above styled cause, who was decreed to be entitled to the one-third interest in the sale of the tract of land sold in this cause. My mother Rachael Beeler was a resident of the State of Illinois at the time this land was sold, and has never been back to Tennessee to receipt for this money. Myself and W. T. Beeler, and Matilda Widby are the three Tennessee heirs of Rachael Beeler. After she left Tennessee, and went to Illinois she took her son Enoch Beeler [also referred to in this case as Enoch Brock] with her and after she moved to Illinois she had two girl children born, who are now more than twenty-one years of age; one of the girls names was Sarah Beeler or Sarah Brock, and the name of the other I do not at this time re-call. My mother died several years ago, say something like ten years, and the six children above named are her heirs, and only heirs, and are entitled to receive a one-sixth interest of the fund now held in the registry of the Court. She left no will at the time of her death, and so far as I know no administrator was ever appointed. I don’t think there ever was one in Tennessee. The last known address of the Illinois heirs was Leroy, Illinois. William T. Beeler’s present address is Cross Plains, Texas, and the address of myself and Matilda Widsby is Liberty Hill, Tenn.
And further sayeth not.
D. H. Beeler
Sworn to and subscribed before me this the 22nd day of July, 1919.
W. T. Phillips
Clerk and Master.

The following marriage records are held by the Grainger County Archives:

Jacob Beeler and Rachel Akin, 27 Jan 1848
James T. Satterfield and Matilda Beeler, 19 Jul 1867
James H. Widby and Matilda Satterfield, 6 Aug 1880
I only know both of these surnames are found in early Shenandoah County Virginia, there is even a town named Bowman.

John Valentine Beeler and wife Mary (possibly Maria/Mary Turney born 1739 d/o Peter Turney) were in the area around Woodstock / Edinburg VA, and later some of the family about 1760s near Red Banks.....a large group moved by 1774 to Beaver Creek of Holston River (the border of present day VA/TN around Abingdon Va and Bristol TN/VA).

Mary Turney Beeler - her two brothers Peter Turney Jr and Henry Turney, and her sister Eve Teeter also 1774 made this move into eastern TN, and about this time John and Eve Teeter sold their Shenandoah Co VA land to Adam Petre.....Nicely/Knisely also involved in this group.....
a bit later you find them in area around Bean's Station which I think is Grangier Co TN today, also around Hawkins Co TN.

Anyway, Bowman is one of the families who were their neighbors in VA as were Hawkins, Bird, Nuland/Newland, Peters, etc.

There is an early Beeler cemetery not far from a Teeter one, one being in VA and the other in TN near Bristol TN/VA.

M.E.

About the Beeler cemetery......I have a copy of an old map of that area of SW VA and eastern TN and noticed both the Teeter and Beeler cem. listed on there so did a little research. Sorry to say Mary Turney Beeler is not buried there, she died ca 1810 I have been told in Union Co Tennessee and her husband John Valentine Beeler died ca 1823 in Gringer Co TN.

The Beeler cem. near Bristol:
Bristol is split down the middle with half in Virginia and half in Tennessee. The Beeler Cem. is on the Tennessee side, outside of the city limits and is in the county of Sullivan. Located on Weaver Pike, other families in the area in 1700s were Peters and Weavers. J.V. Beeler registered his land on Beaver Creek in Feb 1774, the day before also registering land on Beaver Creek were his in - laws - John Teeter, Henry and Peter Turney.

Eve Turney Teeter died 16 August 1828, and she and her husband are buried there in the Teeter cem. near Wallace Virginia - so only a few miles from the Beeler cem. but they are in different states. Her children married into the Nicely/Knisely, Miller, and Speece families.

All of these families - Teeter, Beeler, Turney, Miller, Nicely, Speece, Peters, Matheny, Petre, Funkhouser, Nuland/Newland, etc. were around the Edinburg VA area in 1750s.....
John Teeter (wife Eve Turney) in Feb 1769 had 450 acres on Stony Creek in Shenandoah Co VA, he was in Washington Co VA (at the time, this is near Wallace VA today) when he sold this 450 acres to Adam Petre the father of the children who married the children of J.V. Beeler in Tn.
Henry Turney in 1769 and J.V. Beeler in 1769 were also on Stony Creek - this runs into the north branch of Shenandoah River at Edinburg and is the area where these people grew up and married.....they all appear in 1774 on Beaver Creek between Abingdon Va and Bristol TN.

Let me know if you find out who is buried in the Beeler cem......since Mary Turney Beeler is not there.

I have also been told Evan Shely of Sapling Grove (Bristol) is buried there in town at East Hill cem.....Peter Turney Jr. (d 1804 Smith Co TN) and brother to Mary Beeler was involved a lot with Shelby. Peter was under Shelby at Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774, and was involved with Shelby in State of Franklin.

Mary
