James and Jane Beeton

I'm searching for any information on James and Jane Beeton who lived in March, Cambridgeshire, England in the 1800s. They were the parents of at least 9 children. I believe they were my great, great grandparents. I'm especially interested in James and Jane's parents and one of their sons, John W. who lived in Hunstanton.

Samuel Ochart and Isabella Mary (Mayson) Beeton, England

Isabella Beeton was the famous author of Mrs. Beeton's famous household management book that sold millions of copies. She and her husband had four children, only two of whom reached adulthood. One was Orchart Beeton, born March 1864 in London (his mother died a year later). His wife was Janet whom he married in 1889 in Greater London, Kent. They had at least one child, a daughter born in 1891.

Who was the other surviving brother of Orchart? He was born between 1861 and 1864. Both brothers were alive in 1933.

Walter Samuel Beeton

I'm still trying to discover the parents of Walter Samuel Beeton. A WSB was born in 1860 in Ipswich to unmarried Laura Beeton, who was originally from Bawdsey, and she is the most likely candidate for Walter's mother. The father's name given on Walter's marriage certificate may be fictitious or may be the name of his otherwise unknown father. Laura appears to have married in 1872, but her husband's name was not Frederick.

Re: BEETON

Hello Donald - I just wanted to wish you luck in finding links in your family tree. My name is Bob Beeton and I also have Beeton relatives in New York at the same time. Unfortunately, the names don't match. My great grandfather, Harry Beeton arrived in New York in 1876 and settled in New Rochelle. He had 4 children, including my grandfather, Arthur. Harry's father, James, lived in Hunstanton, England. I traveled to England a few years ago and found plenty of information on the English clan in the local library, cemetery and county (regional) offices. I think they are used to Yanks coming over looking for information! If we might have any connection in earlier relatives (British), please let me know. By the way, I have a very old family coat of arms from England that lists both Beeton and Beaton surnames - so there must be a connection. From old family letters, we are also supposedly related to a Cardinal Beaton in Scotland in the 1500s and Mary Beaton, a lady in waiting to Mary, Queen of Scots. This Beeton lives in Las Vegas. Good luck.

Bob
