This is what i have for the Behling Family:
this was a record that was in german and then written in english in 1945: It was given to me when i started the family tree: i have typed it for all to see as it was written: please contact me at susanmkrueger@aol.com if you feel we connect as i have more to share thank you for taking the time to read this as i know it might make your head spin trying to work it out.Behling Family History
The history of the Behling family began in Province PommernGermany many years ago. At the time this historical record begins there were nine living brothers whose father was Christain Gottlieb Behling and there Mother Augusta Behling. Ther names of the nine brothers according to age were Frederick, William, Martin, Johann, Christopher (August), Carl, Ludwig, Daniel, and Herman. William was a blacksmith, Johann, August, and Carl were farmers, Ludwig was a fisherman, and Daniel a sheperd. The occupitions of the others are unknown.
William, Martin, and Herman were the first to come to america. They Arrived here in 1880. Herman was the only son who was unmarried,when they came to this country. The others all Brought Their wives and families with them. They came on a sailing vessel which took them fifteen weeks to make the trip. William, Martin, and Herman went directly to Milwaukee, William only remained there for one yearand then returning to Albion where his wife and relatives were located.
August and Fred came in 1880. They remained in Albion. Fred's son August and wife, who had accompanied him, went directly to Milwaukee where her relatives had settled, and later the Father joined them there. Fred arived on a diffrent boat then the others as his ticket had been purchased in this country and sent to him. They arrived here atthe same time, however, after nine or temn days in the water. At one time the two boats were so close on the ocean they could read the names on them. These were steam vessels.
Danile came about two years later in 1882, and Carl soon followed him in 1888.
Ludwig and John, who was the father of August Behling, remained in Germany August Behling, John's son, later came to America with his wife.
Fred was the grandfather to Martha Viebrink, Olga Menzel, and Lena Schwartz of Milwaukee
Will was the father of Charles, William, and albert (Pete) Behling and was Melvina Beilfuss' grandfather, Charles being the father of Henrietta Moore of Detroit.
August was the father of Herman Behling, Eda Grundemann, and Pauline Zink
Carl was the father of Augusta Beilfuss, Hannah Luedtke, Amelia Witschinski, Minna Greenmann , August and Albert (Ike) Behling.
Daniel was the father of Herman, Gustav, Albert, Earnest William, Minnie Lohrke, bertha Behling, and Emma Howard.
Herman was the Father of Oscar, Rudolph, Herbert, Eugene, and Auther.
