In Society -- Mr. Wendell Beichley was the honor guest at a reunion picnic held at Manhattan, Kansas Sunday afternoon. Wendell is leaving this week for Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where he takes a position with the Westinghouse Electric Co. One interesting feature of the picnic was a beautiful cake, made by Wendell's mother, Mrs. Frank Beichley, bearing the insignia of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, a society of which Wendell is a member. Another feature of the picnic which was appreciated by all was an original toast in poetic form splendidly proposed by little Mert Harvey Schwensen, eight year old cousin of Wendell's. Those attending this picnic in honor of Wendell were, Wendell Beichley; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beichley and brother, Maurice of Longford, Kansas; Wendell's aunts, Misses Samuela, Louise and Lorraine Schwensen of Junction City; Mr. and Mrs. Mert Schwensen and son, Mert Harvey of Clay Center, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beichley, Evelyn and Donald of Ada and Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Broom of Minneapolis. (also) Maurice and Wendell Beichley returned Wednesday from California where Wendell inspected electrical work at Boulder dam and other plants with interesting electrical departments. The boys visited also at Los Angeles, San Diego, Glendale and other points of interest in California.
