George Christian Beilstein

I have recently done detailed researched on this family in Bierberau church records. My ggg-grandmother was the half sister of George Christian Beilstein. She named my gg-grandfather for her brother George Christian Beilstein. I copied the birth records of all the Beilstein children but at that time didn't know about Elisabeth Salome Bickel's 2nd marriage to Mr. Diehl. I did find that George Christian Beilstein's marriage record is in error regarding his father. Johann Wendel Beilstein was George Christian Beilstein's grandfather. Following is the birth record of George Christian Beilstein from the Beirberau church record:
Born on the 20 April 1809 at 3 in the afternoon and christned on the 24 Apr 1809 was Georg Christian, son of Georg Nicolaus BEILSTEIN, the forth son of the deceased citizen and master baker Johann Wendel BEILSTEIN from Lichtenberg and his second wife Elisabetha Salome, nee BICKEL of Jaksberg in the Canton of Bern. This is the fourth child, the third son of this marriage. Witnesses are: Johann Christian WERVER, schoolteacher in Obernhausen and Georg Heinrich GUENTHER, resident in Lichtenberg.
Lichtenberg Beilstein Family

I am searching for information on the children of George Nicholas Beilstein who immigrated to America. Marianne (Beilstein) Reisinger (age 58) arrived at the Port of Baltimore Jan. 1860 with her two youngest children. What happened to her? Her half brothers George Philip Beilstein & Johann Carl Beilstein are known to have migrated to America earlier, as the christening record for Marianne's children that were named for her brothers indicated that the above two brothers could not be at the christening since they were in America. Does anyone know where these men lived?

We have a Beilstein connections as follows -

Anna Katherine Stillinger, b. 1/4/1823 Gross-Bieberau - Reinheim, Starkenburg, Hesse Darmstadt,
dau. of Johann Georg Stillinger and Maria Elisabeth Roder
Married Johann Adam Beilstein 9/14/1846 at Gross Beiberau HD.
Johann Adam b. 12/13/1823 Gross Beiberau, son of Georg Heinrich Beilstein and Christine Margareth Beilstein.

We have no further information on them after marriage in 1846. In 1846 - 1848, we had several families emigrated from Hessen to US, and we believe this family was one of them, either tp PA or Illinois.
I am researching Beilstein ancestry also. The oldest name I have in my line is George Adam Beilstein, born abt. 1814 in Germany. He died 11 Feb. 1897. I believe he is buried in Brady's Bend, Pa. where they settled when they came to USA in 1851. His wife was Margare Elizabeth Floar, born 13 June, 1817 in Germany and died 22 Jan. 1913 in Chicora, PA.
They were married in Germany in 1844.

Do you have a connection to this line? I would appreciate any info. Thanks.

Stephanie,
My grandmother was German-Lutheran as far as her ancestors the records only state "The German Parish" .. But I did find something else of interestas I looked though this information once more. I have a copy of the marriage register of the "Pritestent parish " of Gross -Bieberau. Page 579 /Year 1836
This is the marriage record of my gr-grandfather parents s fllows:
George Christian Beilstein, citizen of Lichtenberg, a branch of the local parish, legitimate single son of the deceased citizen Johann Wendel Beilstein and his wife, Elizabethe Salome, born Bickel, now married Diehl, born in the year of Christ eighteen hundred nine on the twentieth of April- with

Elizabetha Catharina Beilstein, legitimate single daughter of the deceased at Gross-Bieberau citizen,Johann George Beilstein abd gus aksi dedeased wufe /elizabetha Catharina, borna blummel, born in the year if Christ eighteen hundred none and the ninth of February.

the marriage occured in the presence of the step-father of the froom, the citizen Johann Adam Diehl of Lichtenberg and the brother of the bride, citizen Johann Philipp Beilstein of Gross-Bieberau, who sigend the record alongwiththe married couple abd me, the Pastor.

So it appears George and Elisabetha may have been "cousins".
the only Adam I have foundinthe record is this step father johann Adam Diehl.

Perhaps some of these names may help you in your search.

I learned from another branch of my Beilstein cousins, that some of the Beilsteins then migrated to the farmlands of the new Russian Frontier and others stayed in Germany and then migrated to the USA.

good luck and please let me know if you find anything that ties our familes together. Thank you.
Re: Beilstein family in Pittsburgh, PA

There was a Phillip Beilstein (father) in Allegheny City, PA on 1850 census 3rd Ward, page 1037. Wife-Margaret, children listed as-Frederick, Theodore, George, Catharine, and Margaret. In 1860 Margaret is listed without Phillip. The spelling can also be found as Bilestine. The 1860 also listed 3 Hauck children living at the home, which is my connection.

They are the parents of my great-grandfather Adam John Schirm. If this information is familiar to you please get in touch.

My Brickey surname

Hi Jean. Sorry, but my Brickey last name is of no relation to the large mass of Brickey's that came from Jean Briquet. My husband is the Brickey and his family are French Canadians that settled in the Adirondack area of New York in the 1800's. We bought the book by Raymond Brickey and after all the research I did trying to connect our Brickey's we finally found that our last name was really Vivier dit Brique. Our original ancestor who came from France was Pierre Vivier (son of Gregoire Vivier of France)and he came over in about 1650 to Quebec. Canada has what they refer to as dit names, that is, the equivalent of also known as. If you wanted to differentiate between one Vivier and another in the same area you would give them an additional name, usually having to do with their occupation, etc. So, we had a bricklayer...hence Briquer. When my husband's people came into the US from Canada people referred to this branch of Vivier's as the Brickey's and being illiterate people they just went with it. So, as you can see we just coincidentally have the same last name now. Interesting though.

Beilstein's in Allegheny County, PA

My great grandfather, Adam John Schirm's mother was a Mary Beilstein from Hesse, Germany. She would have been born about 1851. She married John Schirm and had about 5 children. I have found her as a widow with a son Frederick in the 1910 Allegheny City, Allegheny County, PA census. I am trying to find Mary Beilsteins parents and relatives. Do you have a Mary in your records?

Jacob Beilstein

Dear Sally,
Thank you for your response to my query. I haven't found any new information on my Jacob Beilstein since I posted my query. I'm not sure how your information ties in but I'm always glad for more information. In my Jacob's will of 1791 he mentions a brother Adam still living in Germany and also Adam's two daughters. Do you know what religion your Jacob practiced? Mine was German Reformed. Thanks again, Stephanie.

We have a Beilstein connections as follows -

Anna Katherine Stillinger, b. 1/4/1823 Reinheim, Starkenburg, Hesse Darmstadt,
dau. of Johann Georg Stillinger and Maria Elisabeth Roder
Married Johann Adam Beilstein 9/14/1846 at Gross Beiberau HD
Johann Adam b. 12/13/1823 gross Beiberau, son of Georg Heinrich Beilstein and Christine Margareth Beilstein.

We have no further information on them after marriage in 1846. In 1846 - 1848, we had several families emigrated from Hessen to US, and possibly this is one of them.

We haave Diehl and Gerhardt connections in Darmstadt also.

Ay help appreciated,
Kenneth Stillinger

StillysGarage@aol.com

gee, i thought i was the only one! Jean (in all its spellings) was really popular, huh? know why?cause the original ancestor from whom we're all descended was Jean Briquet who came from france in 1680. he settled in roanoke,va and anglicized the name. course my parents didn't know this when i was named. FYI anyone researching background should contact Mrs.Raymond Brickey, 3641 Winding Way Road, Roanoke,VA.24015. Raymond is deceased; but i believe she is till there. possibly has copies of his book left. i didn't know anything at all until 1983 and happened to come across his name and sent for the book. it is NOT a ripoff with only names and address of that name; it is a true chronology of the line. it was $45 last i heard but bellieve me well worth it. my group cane down from the roanoke clan thru Elijah, then James Allen Brickey. he left and moved to KY (where my grandad, William L was born)then to arkansas. grandpa settled in Okla, first Tarby Prairie then around Spiro where I was born. My dad was Lee, the youngest of grandpa's own six children (of halves, wholes, and steps there was a total of 18!) dad left Okla in Jan.1939 and settled in northern calif. if i can be of any help please e mail me. "cousin" nancy in has also done extensive research. good luck, cousin.
