I am reading through my aunt's papers. There is a letter my aunt wrote to her cousin on 1/23/82 giving what she knew. She stated that her father,George was born in Zanesville, Ohio, county of Muskingum on 1/16/1881. George's father was Jacob, age 38 at the time of birth. His wife was Phoebe Gauble, 35 at the time of birth. The birth certificate says they were both born in Germany. They had 2 other children,Alice and Edward. Edward married Lottie Booth in Jackson, Ohio and worked in the railroad shops there.
My aunt Norma was told that Jacob Beisser had fought in the Civil War and while at the rotunda of the capitol, had said he regretted dropping an "s" off of Beisser. So that's were Beiser came from on my side of the family.
My grandparents moved to Springfield, Ohio in about 1916.
My aunt wrote of visiting her father's aunt, Maggie Ratcliffe. I think she lived in Zanesville in an area called Putnam.
George Beiser, my grandfather, had 2 cousins, Lizzie and Lulu in Zanesville. Lulu died but Lizzie ended up marrying William Stevenson and lived in Flat Rock, Michigan.
I just looked back at the papers that were furnished to my aunt. Jacob, my great-grandfather is the 3rd son of Johann Georg Beisser.
So if I have it right, this is the order of things;
1.Micheal Beisser and Elisabetha had Johann Georg Beisser on 3/10/1804.
2.Johann Georg Beisser and Elisabetha had
Johann Jacob Beisser on 2/20/1842 in the Kingdom of Wurtenberg (or Prussia)
3.Jacob Beisser and Phoebe had George on
1/16/1881 in Zanesville,Ohio.
4.George Beiser and Clara ,nee Priode, had Margret Alene, my mother, on July 5th, 1912 in Jackson, Ohio.
5.Jack Harris and M. Alene , nee Beiser, had me, John Michael Harris on June 30th 1946 in Washington D.C.
If any of these are your relatives, let me know in reply. I am John Harris, 6234 Kingshire Road; Grand Blanc, Michigan.
