I have been looking from the Phoebe Defenbaugh Beissel view.
I have located 2 graves in Central City, KS, mostly unreadable but have come up with some changes.

James Delbert Beissel b 31 May 1881 died aged 1 year 1 month 11 days on July 11 of 1882 from the inscription on the gravestone and the addition of a middle name and birthdate.

Elden Clifford b 28 Mar 1879, died aged 6 yrs 6 mos 13 days on Oct 11, 1885. Per gravestone inscription, his name is very clearly Elden C.

I'm not aware of a femal child named Emily bo 9 Feb 1858 and appears to be a 12th child when Phoebe's obit states there were only 11, 7 of whom survived her.

When I read in his biography that he had a daughter named Angelica, I thought that was pretty neat considering our name isn't that common... especially combined with our last name.
It's great to meet you!
Mary Anne, Do you have a Felix in your line married to Judith Bieber or any Felix. I think you and I are the same line but have not found my connection to Peter and Suzanne on the Samuel. Right now it is just instinct. My documented line ends with Levi Bisell in Jerseytown PA,(1811-1847) married to Susan. My Bisel line then came to Missouri after a brief stay in IL. I think they may have been in Indiana for a short time as well. There is a Peter Beisel buried in Leck Kill PA. I will check my records and send you the dates on the headstone. This Peter Beisel was a builder and built a tavern/hotel in Leck Kill that is still standing and used as the post office. I have a few will copies for several Peter's that I collected on a trip to PA. Hope we cqn find a connection, I have reached a brick wall. Nancy

I was at the library in Easton, Pa, and I found a frail document in their vertical file. The document could be for a First Holy Communion, or just an affirmation that John P. Beisel was a member of the German Reformed Church of North America, in Easton. The communicant's name is given as John P. Beisel. The date given is 10th day of November 1832. I made a copy of the document. Unfortunately, my scanner is being repaired. However, I would be happy to send a copy of this document to any relatives of John P. Beisel. Since I also have Beisel ancestors, I would be interested in discovering if John P. Beisel was a relative of mine.

Through baptismal records of two of my Charles Beisel's children, I have proven that Charles was born in Strümpfelbrunn, Baden. Carl Matthias Beissel was baptized on 18 June 1829, in the Evangelische Kirche, in Strümpfelbrunn. He was the son of (Johann) Matthias Beissel and Eva Catharina Weiss. A German cousin has the ancestry back to the 1300s.

My Charles M. Beisel, arrived in NYC on 11 Nov 1857. From various American sources, I have discovered that he was born in Baden, about 1829-1830. On the I.G.I., there is a Charles Matthias Beisel listed, who was born on 14 June 1829, in Strümpfelbrunn, Mosbach, Baden. Apparently that Beisel line went through a variety of spellings, including Beisel, Beissel, Beussel, etc. I am trying to find out if the Charles born in Strümpfelbrunn was my Charles Beisel.
There was also another Charles Beisel, who arrived in NYC after my Charles Beisel. Which Charles are you descended from? Thanks.

I am wondering of the Peter Beissel who married Maria Schwenk who was married in the New Goshenhoppen Reformed Congregation (from Marriages and Deaths of Montgomery County Pennsylvania, 1685-1800, p. 105, it doesn't give any dates)could be Peter Anton Biffle, son of Johannes Paulus Buffel/Biffle? Peter Anton, his father, mother, and siblings came from Contwig (Germany) in September 1738 and settle in Montgomery County. My Peter Anton would have been born in 1725. He may be the father of the Peter Bistel you are researching. But may be grasping at straws.

It is a place for Beissel relatives to visit and LEAVE MESSAGES for one another in hopes of getting to know one another and share stories. It's been pretty inactive since our reunion in July so I hope some new found cousins will get it going again. In order to leave message there you need to register. See you there. Kathy

Hi Ann
I have an extensive amount of history on the Beissel family. As far as I can tell so far, there are 2 basic Beissel families in the United States. The one I am from stems from Dakota Co., MN and spread to SD, MI, MO to mention a few states. The second Beissel family seems to center in the PA and surronding areas. I don't have the names Charles or Patrick Beissel in my data. If you could give me a bit more information I can see what I have.
Kathy - watkins@wavetech.net

Sorry I called you Ann, don't know where that came from. I don't have any Charles' in our family. But then I don't know if our Johann came over with any brothers or not.

There is another lady we have been in contact with who is researching Beissel's. Her clan comes from the PA area. Her name is Mary Pisel Blecha, if you haven't been in contact w/her already, please do so. She would love to hear from any Beissel. She believes we are all related is determined to find out how. mpiselb@earthlink.net

Hi Mary Anne,

At this time I don't believe there is a direct relation to the MN Beissel's and the PA Beissel's. Our Beissel's didn't come to America until Jul 2, 1845 when Johann and his wife Sophia Kleinsorg came in thru NY. This is about 100 years after your ancestors arrived here. What I don't know is if Johann had any siblings that came with him. Johann and his ancesters come from Weingarten, GER Kirspeniach, Bad Munstereifel, GER. This is what we have for the ancestors of Johann Beissel. There could be a connection back in Germany, but it hasn't been made yet. Another thing we've noticed in doing our research is we haven't found any spelling variation of the Beissel name in our ancestors. I don't know if that means anything.

Descendants of Mathias Beissel

1 Mathias Beissel
+Anna Margareta Roggendorf m: in GER

2 Joseph Beissel b: Mar 01, 1774 in Weingarten, GER d: Jun 01, 1814 in Kirshpenich, GER
.... +Theresia Cremers b: in Kirshpenich, Bad Munstereifel, GER m: in GER

3 Johann Beissel b: Oct 06, 1803 in Kirspeniach, Bad Munstereifel, GER d: Feb 11, 1882 in New Trier, Dakota Co, MN
Burial: New Trier, Dakota Co., MN - St. Mary's cemetery
+Anna Sophia Kleinsorg b: Jun 28, 1808 in Stotzheim, Euskirchen, GER m: Jan 15, 1829 in Stotzheim, Euskirchen, GER d: Bef. 1848 in America - unknown

*2nd Wife of Johann Beissel:
+Maria Anna Tietz b: Jan 11, 1817 in Garzweiler, Duesseldorf m: 1848 in Richfield, Washington Co., Wis? d: Dec 28, 1897 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co , MN Burial: New Trier, Dakota Co., MN - St. Mary's cemetery

3 Anne Beissel b: Mar 06, 1806 in Kirshpenich, GER

Hi Ron, I got the pictures you sent. Thanks. I also wanted to make a comment about this book THE WEDGE. It doesn't really pertain much to our Beissel family. It deals more with the Beissel clan from the PA. area. There are a few of our family members mentioned in it, but it won't give you the back ground we are looking for. I've not seen it, but I've talked to several people who do have copies.
Kathy

Albie Gibault's Son

Monday, December 4, 2000

Hello Mark!

Yes, I am Albie Gibault's son. How do you know about my dad? Did you ever meet him? He passed away a few years ago. He was a great father and individual.
I have a sister, Marion, who lives in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
I have some info and a few pictures, which you might be interested in.
My grandmother(Albie's mom)was Catherine Beissel. She married Henri (Hanry/Harry) Gibault. They homesteaded at Winter, Saskatchewan, Canada at the turn of the last century.Catherine was, I believe, a sister to Albert Beissel.
Louis Beissel (Albert's father)went originally by the name Ludwig. His father was Johann (spelling ?)who had three wives. Two died at birth. There were apparently five children born at one time or another.
I am hoping to receive more detailed info from a Beissel cousin. I will let you know what might be of interest to you.

Sincerely,
Ron Gibault

Charles Beissel/Bicer of Pottstown, PA

Looking for info on my gg- and ggg- grandfathers, both named Charles. My gg-grandfather was Charles H. Bicer (evidently changed from Beissel some time before 1900), b. 26 March 1863 in PA, baptized at Trinity Reformed Church in Pottstown. Occupation was a butcher, lived primarily at 317 N. Evans St. in Pottstown, died in 1936, buried in (Old) Pottstown Cemetery. Married Katie Anderson (1869-1960) abt. 1891. Children were Edward, Norman, Earl (my g-gf), Bertha, and Anna.

His baptismal record lists his parents as Charles Henry Beissel and Sarah Elizabeth Beissel. His death certificate lists his parents as Charles Bicer and Sarah Bickel. Sarah is most likely the daughter of Levi and Catharine Bickel.

Charles ("Jr.")'s 1900-1920 census records list his father being born in Pennsylvania, but in 1930 it says his father was born in Germany.

My earliest ancestor was Peter Beissel (Poisal) who arrived on the ship, Samual, in
1733 with his family out of Rotterdam to
Philadelphia. I am descended from Peter then
one of the sons Hans Jacob who lived in
Martinsburg, VA (now WV), Berkeley County.
During the 5th generation Peter Poisal of
Martinsburg migrated to Kansas. He died in
Kansas, 1898 and his wife, Catherine Gallaher
Poisal died in Iowa. They had 8 children.
I believe all of us are descended from Peter
Beissel (ship, Samuel)Both he and his wife
Susannah were born in Germany and were Palatines. Both of them died in PA. Where?
He born 1689. Susannah born 1700. Can you place them in your line?
