Beitzels of the 87th PA Inf - Civil War

Looking for data on Civil War veterans named
Beitzel who served with the 87th Pennsylvania
Volunteer Infantry. The unit mustered in
York in September 1861. I am writing a
history of the regiment and seek firsthand
accounts by the veterans. I am also building
a database of personal data on each soldier
and need your help in that huge task.

Edwin Benjamin Beitzel (b. Feb 17, 1839; d. Nov 1,
1919) was a butcher from York who married Amelia
Julia Jameson January 13, 1867; children: Charles H.
(b. 07/30/67), William E. (b. 03/16/70), Harry I.
(b. 04/25/72), Warren A. (06/07/75), Effie May
(09/20/77), and Elsie Maud (b. 09/23/82).

John Beitzel joined the regiment as a substitute
in July 1864 and was not likely from the York area.
