James Wister Myers and Kate Velora Beitzell

A couple years ago I purchased an old photo at a second hand store in Spokane, WA. The back was labeled Mr. J. W. Myers, Manson Iowa. It was taken by the Fairbanks studio Center Point and Walker Iowa. I am guessing it was taken about the turn of the century, a young couple, possibly a wedding picture. I do not know positively that the man in the picture is J.W. Myers.

The closest match I can find for the photo is James Wister Myers who married Kate V. Beitzell on 4 jul 1897 in Marion Iowa They were living in Lincoln Iowa in 1900 and then find them in Bonner county Idaho where they are both buried. Looks like they did not ever have any children. I believe that Kate was the dau of George C. and Kerziah Beitzell of Warren and Marion counties Iowa.. I have found no clues as to the parents of James W. Myers.

I would appreciate any input on this family. I would like to see that the photo makes it back to it's family.

I have posted the photo at http://www.geocities.com/mjstockwell/ jwmyers.html I can also e-mail it to anyone interested.

Thanks
Pat
Chattaroy WA

BEITZEL BAUMAN/BOWMAN - CALIFORNIA

A copy of a picture postcard I have (received this from Bernice Jones 1981) of a man reads: we ben laying of all weak they are talking to shut the the camp down tomorrow till after xmas if it wasn't so far I would come and spent xmas with you but is it a little to far I got a leter from cousin (of course hole punched here and only the last letter "d" shows) they are all well this leaves me well hping it will reach all the same. Signed: as Ever your cousin Jacob Beitzel. Under the picture someone wrote - Grandpa Bauman's nephew Ed Bauman. Perhaps it was Ed Bauman mentioned as "d" in the body of the note. A bit confusing but believe Ed Bauman is the cousin of Jacob Beitzel. I'm trying to find the family connection. Grandpa Bauman would be Ludwig/Louis Bauman(n)/Bowman who immigrated to US (unknown time) but married in 1868 in Maryland to Catherine Romer/Ramer and came to Washington State where they homesteaded. Help please. I did find a Jacob Beitzel in the 1870 Brooklyn census of Alameda Co., CA. He is 32, (b. ca. 1838) a butcher, b.in Prussia with wife Caroline 19 b. Prussia and Elizabeth 68 b. Prussia. Ludwig/Louis Bauman/Bowman was b. 25 Mar 1839 in Prussia. They would have been same generation so perhaps this letter was written to Ludwig and not Ed Bauman.

Descendants (heirs) of William M. Beitzel, b. York, 1874

To settle an estate, I need to identify living children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the aforementioned William M. Beitzel. Known children (all presumably deceased) were Beatrice, Horace C., William Gerald, and Austin M. Austin M. Beitzel (a.k.a James Austin Beitzel ) was born 1904; married Irma Snyder; and had one daughter, Dolores, b. 1927. He d. 1931. His only daughter, Dolores Beitzel died this year (2006) on 14 January, intestate and without children. According to Virginia law, Dolores' estate will go to her aunts and uncles or their children. The children would be her cousins. We have identified all heirs on her maternal (Snyder) side, but have not yet located heirs on the paternal (Beitzel) side -- i.e., children of Beatrice, Horace C., and William Gerald.

Any asistance is greatly appreciated.

Richard Bingham

BERNIECE BEITZEL - TWO RIVERS, WISC

Berniece graduated from Washington High School in 1940. She graduated from St. Luke's in 1936. I have not found her on any census (don't have 1930 to look at) to put her in a family. She died several years ago and I have come into possession of a huge box of photos - some identified but most not - of friends (and possibly family). I'm looking to send appropriate photos to family researching this Beitzel line.

She married late - probably in the 1950s - to Donald Vieau. She lived in Rialto, CA at the time of her death.

All help appreciated.

He died, a few years ago.
Carl was infamiously known as the guy who married his X-daughter-in-law, which makes getting some info painful as not all the family members are talking. He had a large number of kids, one of which was Norman.

Thanks in advance.
norm.
John Georg Beitzel

John Georg Beitzel was the third of four brothers that came to the US in the 1860s. the youngest brother is Christian Beitzel, my great grandfather. Three of the brothers, Henrich (Henry), Lewig (Lewis), and Christian settled in Garrett County Maryland. Their father is Johann Georg Beitzel who was born in Berleburg, Germany and married Anna Catarenia Schulte in Berkelbach Germany. They lived in Berkelbach. The old fachwerk house built in the early 1600ers still stands though remodeled. Two of the boys left Germany before they turned eighteen, The oldest, Heinrich and the second, John Georg. John left Garrett county to settle in Pennsylvania sometime around the 1880ies. Our side of the family has lost complete touch with this member. We have a Beitzel family reunion every year at the firehall in Bittinger, Maryland. Approximately two hundred attend. We would like to reestablish contact with this element of our family.

Wendell Beitzel

You are partly correct. Your great grandfather Johann Henry Beitzel came from Birklebach, Wittgenstein Germany in the 1850's landing at Baltimore, Maryland and hiking on west to Grantsville Maryland. There is an old house at Penn Alps village in Grantsville that has some stories to tell about the man who helped Henry and his brother when they came to America. His son Henry Beitzel was born in 1879 near Bittinger Md, and he married Cynthia Ellen Snyder and they had 13 children. (one child died at birth, so 12 grew to be adult
The only Hetricks I know among their grandchildren are Marla and David Hetrick and their daughter is Jenifer, so I am not sure who you are. You can contact me at Abel@us.net if you interested in the Family History book...or come to the Beitzel Reuinion Labor Day Weekend at the Bittinger Firehall.
Hi Denny,
I hope you have some information about the Beitzell family, I have been looking all over and cannot seem to find any information past my GG Grandfather George Beitzell (my Grandfather John's dad). If you have any information that could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you.
Dolly
you can e-mail me at: dkinder@ctcd.cc.tx.us
I am trying to find information on Ruth E. Beitzell/Baitzell. I have no idea where she was born but she married Charles E. Beachley and lived in Maryland (having 2 children there Vernon and Ruth) then they moved to New Jersey where my grandfather Robert L. Beachley and his brother Charles E. Jr. was born. Thanks for any help. my email is twobsmith@aol.com.
