Elsa,
My husband's Bejarano family was from Chihuahua. We are linked to a Zeferino Bejarano who married a Josefa Garcia and had a son Julio. Julio married Fermina Cordero and had my husband's grandfather, Teofilo Bejarano who was baptized at La Nuestra Senora de Guadaluupe in Jan 1866. Do any of these names sound familiar? Let me know.
Hi martha,
I recently learned that the name Bejarano means a person from Bejar, Spain. Bejar is famous for fine silk, which I understand are still advertised in Spain as "authentic guaranteed from Bejar." Hope this helps. One of th family stories I heard from my aged aunts was that our ancestor was the first governor of COlumbia. My mother is Olga Mercedes Bejarano Waters, grandmother ELena Stevenson (Panamanian) who married Ramon Bejarano from Peru (very handsome man, quite the ladies man I heard). My mother was one of nine children Helena, Olga, Esther, Charles, Oscar, Dora, Vilma, Raymond, Carlos. Let me know if this is your branch also if you know where a tree is. Tks, Kathleen kwaters1234@gmail.com

Hi, I'm the grandaughter of Elena Stephenson Bejarano, from Panama, also Columbia, with ancestors from Spain. She married Ramon Bejarano from Peru, they had nine children: Helena, Olga, Oscar, Raymond, Charles, Esther, Dora, Vilma, most of whom moved to California. I am Kathleen Bejarano Waters, daugher of Olga Mercedes Bejarano and Robert Waters.

I have info and photos and am looking for any relatives and info. I understand Helena did some genealogy and has a family tree, but I've never seen it. Have lost touch with most of my family.
KW

Quite surprised to see anything on the Bejaranos. The info I posted before was erroneous. The following is correct.
Abrahan N. Bejarano b-abt 1847 married Ramona de la Fuente b-1872. They had Julia b1889, Abrahn F. 1890 and Joaquin F. b-abt 1891. Joaquin was last seen in Los Angeles around 1909. Some one told my mother that he was chief of Police in Tijuana. That was around 1970's ???. I have never found Joaquin's family. It would be nice to know what became of him.

Victoria Bejarano, if its the same one in my family, was born Victoriana Alcala. She was the sister of my great grandmother Francesca Alcala. You will find them in the 1880 cencus. Their parents were Francisco Alcala and Catarina Reyes. There were 5 girls altogether. Other than the cencus states they came from Mexico, I have not idea where they came from. I do know some family stories that were pasted down to me.

Which cencus is Victoria Bejarano listed?

2 15 2008 : Did you ever find someone? I think I found a Teofilo in a census around 1910 or so, have you found any in census'? My Grandfather was named Roque(1876 or 7), although in a census they wrote it "Roche" (those state personnel....)He and my grandmother immigrated in 1890. I think they came from the Chihuahua, Mexico region. He had many brothers and sisters and sons and daughters. Every now and then I see some that might be his brothers and sisters, because the name stirs my memories of stories my father told me about his aunts and uncles. It's too bad, but he hardly could speak of them without getting upset, so, it's difficult for me to remember. I think I remember a Josefa from somewhere and a Manuela, but I thought Manuela had died young. My Grandfather Roque and Grandmother Dolores Ramos Bejarano's sons were Roque Jr., Santiago, Manuel (my father), John, Frank, and possibly a Mike or Miguel. His daughters were: Prajeddis,Ricarda, Petra, I think there was another daughter as well, and, there was a son in law named Manuel Laguna as well as Francisco Moreno. A man by the last name of Rascon also was a son in law at one time. Most of the children were born in New Mexico but the family lived in Miami Arizona at least from 1930 or so (census). My mother Clotilde/Cathardia was a Franco-Ordaz-Robles. If you have any info about anyone, or can see even one somewhere in notes, please either call at 909 882 8232, or email lotsoseeds@aol.com or usadmbd@yahoo.com.

2 14 2008: There was some information in a dictionary that caught my eye that said the "Beja" were an ancient pastoral people that lived between the Nile and Red Sea. I know the name Bejarano is an ancient Hebrew name (before the nation of Israel was established or it's people formally known as Jews). "Beja" was also a Cushitic language long ago. There is a name from eastern Europe "Vrano" and "Varano". I believe it to be a "root" name. When people migrated west, or were pogrommed for their Jewish beliefs, it is likely they blended their "root" name with the towns they settled in: Bejar-varano or Bejar-vrano or Beja-varano, Beja-vrano, depending on whether it was Spain or Portugal that they settled in. Of course there are most likely other towns that have mixes like that as well, I have seen a few, but right now I'm not concentrating on them. If anyone has anymore info about the name/towns, etc., email me at: usadmbd@yahoo.com. Thanks! Delores Bejarano.

Hello: I'm not sure if you have been able to contact me since this email you sent me, but, for some reason, it got sent to another account I have. My account at usadmbd@yahoo.com has been active for years, so, if you are having a problem with it, try accessing it through another browser, example: instead of using a google browser, use a yahoo or aol browser. This one got to me, but, I don't use this account very much. I'll check it more often. How has your research been going? Mine is getting along pretty well. I need to actually write everything out while going through my notes. Do you find that sometimes the notetaking can get alittle confusing and get in the way? Just thought I'd ask! Hope to hear from you soon. Oh! This is something you and your family may want to get involved with: Go to :
http://www.earthhour.org/user/IIYD
There is my little web-page. Email me after and tell me what you actually see, as I haven't gotten any feedback. You should see a graph that shows my organization of pledge makers (7) that have joined on my site, to spend one hour between 8-9 pm on March 29th, 2008, to not use our lights (or better yet, electricity!) It was celebrated in Sydney, Australia only last year and this year it went GLOBAL! You can click in and then watch your name appear on the graph. I have seen the pledges grow by almost 100,000, so it is getting stronger as the day gets closer. Hope to hear from you soon! Delores.

2/17/2008: Greetings Porfidia! Some of my family did emanate from Texas. I have an email that I would like to post, so that, if anyone has information, they can send it here: usadmbd@yahoo.com. Sometimes it is difficult to go through all the links to make a small reply. Anyway. I have to look up the info about Victoriana or Victoria, I'm not sure which-although sometimes the persons making the record do make small mistakes. I'll send it as soon as I can. Did your family come from Mexico or another foreign country? Are more US states involved? If you give me an idea of where they seemed to generate from it would help. Franco married one of the dgts. Falomir is a little village about 2 hours away from the Presidio Tx. border.
