im from the bekker branch in the eastern cape.My dad was named
JACOBUS HENDRIK his father was STEPHANUS and he had a brother MARTINUS im sure my mother has a photo of the two of them in rugby togs dated 1911 to me it looks like they were wearing western province jerseys.I know that STEPHANES was born and raised on a farm some where along the molteno/aliwal north road and his mother is buried on the farm. My aunt took him there once but she died before i could take her there to show me the place.So im sorry i cannot provide you with my great grandmas name.I am assuming that my gr8 grandpa was killed in either the Boer war or one of what they now refer to as the great kaffir wars.My dad did tell me that he had an uncle by the name of GERT who lived in the KOMGA area he too was wheel chair bound due to an assegai wound from the same wars.You know Theo the old people had a really funny thing about them and that was that they didnt like to talk much about die ou dae, which is a real shame because it now makes the job so much harder for the likes of you and me!Now i live in marondera zimbabwe and there are 3 other bekkers who live in the district so i will speak to them and see if i can get more info out of them aswell.I forgot to mention that i also have 2 bros and sisters. I will start from the eldes.
