Julio Bela/Bella, violinist, son of Ziggy Bela

Hello. I am looking for any information on Julio Bela or Bella, who was born around 1935, possibly in Pittsburgh, and in the mid-1950s was working as a violinist in the Detroit area, where his father Ziggy Bela was a gypsy orchestra leader. Julio was a jazz violinist, but I can find no record of him after about 1956. HIs father "Ziggy" may be the Solyan Bela who died in the Detroit area in 1983 (born 1905). I'd be grateful for any help.

Re: Otto Bela /west prussia

Never heard the name Bela til today..I had a ggg-uncle whose middle name was "Bela"...and just found out today what the initial "B" meant! I am searching for his father and mother as if I find them I will have found my gggrandfather's parents also and I have run out of leads with him! No..I do not have any knowledge of a BELA in the family but was thinking that the middle name could have been his mother's or maternal grandmother's maiden name (my sister's middle name was Lawson..my grandmother's maiden name..so I wondered if this might be the case!) BUT I do not see a horde of BELAs waiting to claim kinship! My ancestors were from VT in the early to mid 1800's..

My grandfather Otto Bela was born in 1906 in Kartuzy/west prussia. He had, I think, two brothers and one of them left Germany and went to Brazil, US or Canada, any more Belas out there?

Andrea Dickerson
