Hi,I believe I have information on Ellen Snyder's family. I think Francois Snyder/Thenedre was her Ellen's father. He was married to Margarite Robidou. His parents were Francois Chenedre and Suzanne Rufiange dit Laviolette. Tracding data is difficult as the name is spelled differently throughout Ancestry. Baptized Feb. 10, 1791,at St. Jaochim,Chateauguay, Quebec,Canda, he was known as Francois Thenedre (note the Theodore spelling); married 1815 at St. Regis Indian Reservation, New York, with name of Francois Preder; 1820 and 1830 census at Ft. Covington, known as Francis Sneeder in 1820 and Francis Snyder in 1830. In 1851 Canadian census, the Francis Sinder family shows up in Charlottenburg,Glengary, Ontario, Canada with "Helen" [Ellen], born 1835; 1861 census Frances Snyder and Margarite Robidou are still in Charlottenburg, Glengary, Ontario, Canada. The church records aren't yet posted for Ellen Snyder's baptism; however her younger sister, Suzanne, shows up with a baptism in 1837... I've traced several branches of this family. Since the Belair/Blair families and Robidou families migrated to Minnesota together, I'm sure this is the right family. (Henry Blair's first wife, Sarah Robidou, would have been a cousin to Ellen Snyder. Let me know what you think...
