Here's what little information I have on my Great-great grandfather Alfred Belair.
name: Alfred Belair
born: 1851
in: St Adele, Terrebonne, Quebec (maybe Sainte Adelle, I've seen it spelled both ways)
died: Oct 24 1879
in: Conway, Franklin County, Mass
wife: Marie Elmire Amanda Belair (born Germain)
Father: Pascal Belair
Mother: Josephte Lacroix Dit Belair (born Langevin)
children:
Son: Aldric Alfred Belair
daughter: Amanda Belair (died as infant age 5 days)
His son Alfred Aldric Belair is my paternal Grandfather.
His brothers and sisters were:
Brother: Amadee Belair
Brother: Cyprien Belair
Brother: Pascal Belair
Brother: Gedeon Belair
Sister: Marie Artimise Belair (maybe Artemise)
There is one unconfirmed record of an Amadee Belair running a shipping company (wagons) in Greenfield, Mass in the 1880's (from a newspaper advert) but I'm not sure it has any connection or not. It was called Amadee Belair & Sons.
I'm pretty sure my Alfred was in the U.S. by the 1870's but no true confirmation yet.
Hope this at least gives you something to search for. Not sure if it is related to your Alfred B or not.
Good luck searching anyhow.
Bob Belair
