My Grandfather, Lazer Belasco, came from Balta in Russias, and was married to Yetta.
THe came to America in the late 1880's' and then settled at 2nd and Christian Street in Philadelphia.
When they left Russia, the name was Braslawski and in transit, they stopped in Liverpool for a year where the name reverted to Belasco.
On a visit to England a few years ago, we met with a family where the wife's name was Bobbi Belasco Perera-Mwndoza.
Her husband, Vivian Perera-Mendoza's father was the Rabbi at the great Synagogue in Manchester. We could not establish a relationship betrween our two names, however, I will write to them in Manchesdter and get whateveer information I can from Bobbi.
Good luck in your seaarch.
