Hi Kristen,
Steve in Dallas... we are cousins ! Cliford John son of James I know that name well. I have alot of names of James's Belch family that stayed in Belleville area from newspaper orbit and stuff like that...
My Belch's .. children of James older brother Charles moved across the river to Watertown NY. thats where I grew up !
As for the roots ... the name John Black is wrong . (some researcher added that a long time ago and about 30 people have copied it over and over ... it looks pretty good... but the name is Belch and always has been... I find Belch's in England way back into the 1500's. the problem with records from London is ...no census or civil records before 1840... anything prior to that was church records .. and a lot of them where destroyed in WWII )
what we do know is ... John Belch was born around London in 1890 plus or minus a couple. John and his wife ANN 2 sons Charles and Samuel and daughter Mary Ann came to Canada from England around 1835. ( still looking for the name of ship and actual port and date of arrival) Ann maiden name could be Shaw and the date of marriage could be in 1817 St Brides ( not 100% sure of that)
I am still looking through church records from all parishes in and around London for birth of John and or Ann
I will keep you up to date .. also love to hear any info you have on my cousins in Canada
