DANVILLE -- Hazel Mae Scott Adams Belden, 77, of Danville, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at 4:37 a.m.
Hazel was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Danville, a daughter of the late Lester Robert Scott, who passed away at the age of 23 when Hazel was 6 months old, and her mother, Pearle Gillen Scott, who would then marry Lorne Adams and together become the loving parents of Hazel Mae.
Hazel married Jack "Jackie" Belden, April 2, 1954, in Danville.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie (Greg) Reinhart of Marseilles; two grandsons, Bryan (Dawn) Baker of Morris and Chadd (Donna) Baker of Seneca; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Samantha and Savannah, all of Morris, and Melissa, Stephanie and Darren Baker, all of Seneca; a sister, Betty (late Wayne) Sexton of Danville; nephews, Bret Sexton, Bart (Pam) Sexton of Danville, Alan (Kerrie) Sexton and family of Muncie; niece, Tammy Stern of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a very special cousin, Margaret Dickson; sister-in-law, Linda (Robert) Adams; and nephews, Doug (Amy) Adams and family, Jason (Carla) Adams and family, all of Oakwood; niece, Cherri (Ron) Pettice of Champaign.
A special thank you to Louise Brucker for being a loyal and true friend to mom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, Lorne and Pearle Adams; brother, Bob Adams; brother-in-law, Wayne Sexton; and niece, Betsy Adams.
Hazel was a beauty operator and owned and operated her own shop both in Danville and Seneca. In 1993 she and Jack moved back to Danville for their retirement summers and wintered in Arizona.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seneca and Lone Oak Church of Christ in Danville. Throughout her years she belonged to numerous organizations.
She will be missed by all of her family members and friends both local and from across the country.
A celebration of Hazel's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Lone Oak Church of Christ, 19454 Henning Road, Danville. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Kins. Burial will be in Allhands Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville.
