Re: Julio Bella or Bela, son of "Ziggy" Bela/Bella

Hi -- Thanks for the note. I actually heard a few months back from another relative, Lauren Slepsky, who filled me in a little bit on Julio Bella -- told me his real name was Julius Margitza, etc, and gave a bit more detail. I actually live in Scotland (though I was born and raised in US), so it would probably be easier if I phoned your uncle. A friend of mine in England, who is even more heavily involved in the history jazz violin and who is a very big fan of Julio Bella's playing would probably be even more interested in talking to Julio's brother. E-mail me directly at kevcof@aol.com and we can figure out what the best way to proceed is -- take care -- Kevin Coffey

My grandfather's name was Wasco or sometimes spelled Vasile Belejcak. He came from Bardejov in the Slovak Republic. However, his name was never changed. He came first to Juniata, Pa which is in Fayette Co., He had a brother, Peter that came also. However, I don't think he had a brother Joe. There was also a Brilla that came. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know. Thanks. Eleanore

Hi, my name is Frank Bella. I'm the fourth Frank in my family. My Great-Grandfather was from Hungary. When he died in the late 60's, we found out he was actually from Transylvania. Everyone thought that was funny because of all the Bela Lugosi jokes we've been teased with all of our lives. I'd be interested to hear from any Bellas who know anything about the "Transylvania Connection".

Bella surname

My father's cousin "Paul Bella" would be too young to be your great grandfather, but that doesn't mean there isn't a connection. From what I know Paul, Robert, and Joseph were common names passed down through the family. My grandmother who currently lives in Germany has done some research into the family. Unfortunately my Uncle Peter Bella has the information and won't pass it on. I've attempted to get the info. several times with no success. To the point, Paul Bella, is currently living in Vienna, Austria. There are actually quite a few cousins living in Vienna. I don't recognize the surname "Farkas". I will check with my father next time I talk to him and see if the name is familiar. I know at some point in the early 1900's a family of Bella's, distantly related settled in California. Unfortunately I don't know where they settled or if they remained there.

Hi, Thank you so much for replying. I am hoping you can help me. I am researching the Neil and Shaffer names. Clarence's father, Peter Joseph married Lourena Neil who was a sister to Frederick Neil who was my father's adopted parents. My father was Harry Neil Sr. I remember Clarence and Ruth visiting my parents when I was little.
All I knew is that they raised Rosy-I am putting out feelers everywhere in hopes to find some information. The Shaffer name is in both my side of the family and my husbands. Please email me at the following address: marylee@qcol.net
Thanks a bunch!
Mary Lee
