I purchased the subject undated studio portrait of two girls taken by Bayley & Winter, San Francisco, CA.
Dear Gerlynn Herron Cont,

I too am doing searching on my Belleau relatives starting in Garden River, Ontario and some in Quebec. I am at a standstill now until I receive a hard copy of a family tree started by my cousins ( it is in the mail ). I was wondering about the origin of your name, Cont? I have a Melvina Conti who was married to my GGGP Andrew Bellow (as I think they spelled it). I am not a member of Ancestry so I cannot receive and deliver messages. My email is:
plin62004@gmail.com
I appreciate any info and we can work together.
Thanks so much.
~ Patty Ann

Hi,

I think you must have some incorrect information. Celine and Alphonse Belleau are my great grandparents. They did live in Oconto and did have 16 children.

My grandfather, Paul, is their second to the youngest child, my great uncle Joe is the baby of the family.

My father, David, was born in 1938 and he has spoken of spending time with his cousins at his grandmother's house in the Oconto area. I was not born until April of 1962, and my parents told me that Celine was alive when I was born and that she met me.

My dad said that Celine had black tea and dry toast for breakfast every day. Near the end of her life she looked out her window and and laughed as she watched "little Paul and Joe playing". She was telling this to Paul, who was a grandfather at the time.

Of the 16 children I think only Paul, Joe and Ambrose are still alive.

Seeking information about children and marriage of Joseph Belleau
and Esther Tomilson. They were married 2-28-1859 in Trois Rivieres
Quebec (Three Rivers)At some point they moved to Waterbury Connecticut
or that area. They had 9 children but I'm not certain of all the names:
The names may be Odiana, Marguerite, Melinda (or Mathilde, Pierre,
Irene, Joseph and George.

I know that they were married against the wishes of her family and
that her family disowned her over it. I don't know where she came
from in Canada or her parents names.

My line descends from Odiana Belleau.
Joseph, George

Just thought of some more info. Odiana had a sister named Marguerite or Maggie who married a man named Pierre Adams. I believe they lived in the same town (Waterbury CT) Marguerite had a son named Bill, and 3 daughters, Ida, Norma, and Eva.I don't believe Norma or Eva or Bill ever married.
I don't know anything about Ida's family.
Odiana married Emmanuel Rondeau and had 12 children.
Odiana's mother's name was Esther Tomelson (sp?) and supposedly She and Joseph Belleau were married in the Tree Rivers area - St Maurice.
That's about what I know

Together they had three children; Donna Lee, Harry Albert and Larry Alfred. They moved to California in 1945, and Albert died shortly thereafter. Listed on his obituary as survivors are his wife and children and his mother, Rose Belleau of Morganville, Kansas.
Hi Claudette!
I am trying to trace my Belleau roots. I am a descendant of Jean Evangeliste (aka John E.) Belleau (b. abt. 1831, Montreal, Quebec) and his wife, Emmerance Arpin (aka Maria Harper- born NY). This couple and their children later settled in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
Could you please get in touch with me as I believe there may be a connection between our Belleaus. PS- I am also currently in contact with a couple of other Belleau relatives that descend from the same line as mine.

Dear Dinah,
Obviously i don't have the slightest clue how to go about this ancestry search. I will tell you what I know about the Belleau family. They orginiated in Canada. Emile, was one of 14 children and the first to come to the US. he was an artistic sort--a blacksmith or tinsmith. He married Ida Berceir of Salem, Mass. There were other Belleaus in Salem and he is buried there. Does this add to your small pittance of information? Please keep in touch.
Sincerely, Ann Marie (Durand) Samson. The Belleau part of me is a long story.

I have become very jumbled moving along this m Emile Belleau wth or a tinsmith.
Coat of Arms/Family Crest

Hello. My name is Patrick Labelle. My father is Albert, son of Joseph Labelle. We are French Canadian and live throughout the provinces of Ontario and Quebec in Canada. I am in dire need of our family crest. So far all I have is a black and white drawing in The World Book of La Belles which depicts a leaping silver sheep on a blue background. There is a silver label with four attached pendants on top of the sheep. I need a decent colour version of either this or other Labelle family crests, and would appreciate any help on how to interpret these heraldic treasures. Feel free to email me if you can help or if you think I can help you with something as well. Thanks.
