Belleville née
Blouin, former grocer of the Centralville area of the city for many years, were held this morning amid a large group of frends, family and vistors who came from St. Jean, PQ, Montreal, Schenectady and
Buffalo, NY.
The cortege left the funeral home at 222
Cumberland Road 8:45 am with the mortal remains and made their way to St. Louis de France church for 9:00 am where the service was celebrated by the pastor, Father
Simon Lonergan. The choir, under the direction of
Georges Ayotte, sang the Mass of the
Dea in Gregorian chant. At the Offertory, “Domine Jesu Christe” was sung by the choir. After mass, the choir sang “Requiem Aetername” and afer the blessing of the casket, they sang “Jesu Salvator Mundi.” Soloists were Roland
Dozois, Bernard
Painchaud, Eugene Corbeil, Alde Lemire et Hector Dalphond. Mr. Laurier Sans-Cartier was at the organ. Le J.N. Jacques
Council of the “Union St. Jean
Baptiste d’Amerique” was represented by Misters Rodolphe
Champagne, Ovila Harnois, Arthur
Paret and
Alexandre Gervais. The pall-bearers who also represented the Sacred Heart
League were Misters Etienne Bernier, Joseph Champagnet, J-B Martin, Joseph
Madore as well as Misters
Georges Grenier and Moise
Daigle of the J-N Jacques
Council of the Union St. Jean
Baptiste. There were many bouquets of natural flowers as well as a large spiritual bouquet left at the tomb of the deceased. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery in the family plot. Father Charles Cormier recited the final prayers at the tomb.
Funeral was under the direction of Leo N. Bilodeau.
