Looking for the Family of Fred & Etta Belleveau/BELLEVUE.
Fred Bellevue & Etta Busby married in Manhattan, New York around 1882. They had several children and the majority of them ended up in the Old Orchard Beach area, including Max and his wife, Alice Bromley Bellevue, who are my husband's grandparents. Unable to find information on their parents.

Any information about anyone in this large family would be greatly appreciated.

Karen,
I would be so very excited to receive anything about St. Bernard parish. I would be able to connect the family lines. I only hope I can repay you in some way.
When my one generation older cousin was in Belliveau Cove some years back her car broke down. She found the BELLIVEAUs to be the auto mechanics but they only spoke French. She could not convey the fact they were related and was so dissappointed as her grandmother, Emme BELLIVEAU might have been their grandma or aunt.
Emme's daughter, Evangeline Rose PHILLIPS was born and christened there but Emme left immediately with the newborn for Chicago to be with her husband.
Thank you for the hope.
Sue sjnorris@sbcglobal.net

My 1GGM was Emma Rose BELLIVEAU (ca 1875), d of Pierre Martial BELLIVEAU and Marguerite GAUDET - or Margaret GAUDETTE (m 26 Jun 1870) supposedly at St. Bernards Church near or in Digby. Mother's name is from Emma's death certificate. My grandmother was baptised in this church in 1902.

If anyone knows of where I can find this church's records or has knowledge of the BELLIEVAUs of Digby or Weymouth, NS, I would be most grateful. I have very little information and would like to add to it. I have put off this research due to it being French. I am ready to struggle.

Thank you.
Sue - near Chicago

Francois was married first to Olive Richard on feb 11, 1879 in Memramcook. They only had one daughter Elvina born feb 28, 1880 in Cocagne. She was married to Henri Cormier on Nov 25 1901 in Notre-Dame. Francois married a second time to Marie Goguen on Aug 11, 1884 in Bouctouche. They had 3 children. Louis born Jan 10, 1886 in Boutouche, married Celina Belliveau on Sep 8 1913 in Moncton. Henri was born on Dec 16, 1887 in St-Antoine. I have no wedding for him. The last was Olive, but I have no date for when she was born. She married Theotime LeBlanc on Nov 20, 1918 in New Bedford, MA. Then Francois married Adele LeBlanc on Oct 7, 1895 in Bouctouche and they had 9 children. Henri, Philias, Arthur, Melina, Fred, Louis, Elvina, Olive and Zelia. I only have the first 4 married. If you could give me any info on the rest I would appreciate it. As for the parents of Francois, Denis and Anne had 14 children. He married Marie Richard on Jan 27, 1880 in Richibouctou-Village and they had 2 children. Hope this helps.

They had 7 children, One being my Grandmother Zelia Belliveau. I would like more information about the other 2 wives that Francois Belliveau had, because my grandmother had 2, I believe maybe more, step siblings, one being Elvina Belliveau, and Louis Belliveau who I can't seem to make the connection. I also have a different Parentage for Francois, any clarity for this family would be greatly appeciated
Your grandfather Raymond was my father's first cousin. Uncle Frank was your greatgrandfather. My grandmother was Amanda Beliveau. (Amanda and Frank were brother and sister.) She died from the flu epidemic of 1918. For good geneological information contact my first cousin, Deann. Her e-mail address is: dlchristianson@sbcglobal.net Good Luck!
P.S.
No, I don't have my info in CD form. The majority of my information came from family records and such. My husband's great great grandfather was the first born in Belliveau Cove in 1816. I am talking the first born where it actually lists Belliveau Cove in the records. All of his great great great great grandfathers children were born in St. Mary's Bay, which is where Belliveau Cove is located. HIS father died in Belliveau Cove in 1786.

Where are your Belliveaus from? I can help with a direct line, but I have no way to get you all the information from my sources.
I have found 2 Varieur brothers married with Montigny women and the time frame would be appropriate for being the parents of your Clothilde Varieur.

François VARIEUR (Joseph & Marguerite LESPÉRANCE)
- m.1859-09-19 St-Marcel, Richelieu, Qc
Clothilde MONTIGNY (Jean Baptiste & Marguerite BROUILLARD)

Joseph VARIEUR (Joseph & Marguerite LESPÉRANCE)
- m.1850-02-11 St-Aime, Richelieu, Qc
Marie Agnès MONTIGNY (Jean Baptiste & Marguerite CAHIER)
* Montigny - I did found a Jean Baptiste m. Marguerite Cahier in St-Jude, St-Hyacinthe... but not one married with a Brouillard, which does not mean there is not one, that marriage could be in a parish I don't have or is not yet publish.

Joseph VERRIEUR (Charles & Magdeleine GAGNON)
- m. 1818-11-16 St-Roch l'Achigan, L'Assomption co., Qc
Marguerite ... (dite Lesage-Lespérance) (parents & surname omitted)

Only found one baptism for their children
Marguerite VERRIEUR b/bpt: 1819-06-26/28 St-Roch l'Achigan... the mother still has no surname
godparents: Pierre Lesage-Lespérance & Magdeleine Verrieur

Please note that Joseph (Charles & Magdeleine Gagnon) has a brother Pierre who married in St-Michel, Yamaska 1835, but also ended up in St-Marcel, Richelieu and his children are married there.

I am stuck at Joseph & Pierre's parents... have not been able to find their marriage.

Origine of the surname seems to be VÉRIEU or VÉRIEUL as per Jetté.

Variations I have found so far:
Vérieu(x)
Vérieul
Varieur
Varieux
Varrieur
Varqueur
Vegneux
Vereuil
Verieur
Vergeuil
Vergueil
Vergueuil
Verneuil
Verrieur
Verrieul
Veilleux
Vailleur
Vergueur
Vedieu
Verdieux
Virieul
Veyeux

Hoping this help!

Hi,

You probably have this info by now, but for the record:

Antoine died in Cumberland (according to his death record), and Clothilde in Slatersville. He was born in Yamaska, QC. on 24 Jul 1856; she was born in Canada on 1 Oct 1856 (place not given, just Canada).

Antoine BELIVEAU s/o Esdras & Catherine Theroux
Clothilde VARIEUR d/o Joseph & Marie Montigny
m Woonsocket, RI (Precious Blood Ch.) 26 Dec 1878

Esdras BELIVEAU s/o David & Julie Cartier
Catherine THEROUX d/o Jean-Baptiste & Catherine Labbé
m Yamaska, QC. (St-Michel Ch.) 4 Aug 1846

David BELIVEAU s/o Joseph & Marie Bergeron
Julie CARTIER d/o Jacques & Marie Laroche
m Yamaska, QC. (St-Michel Ch.) 12 May 1823

The rest of the Beliveau lineage can be found in the Nicolet County region and from there back to the ancestor Jean Beliveau (s/o Antoine) in Acadia.

Hope this helps. And if you didn't have it, sorry it took so long getting it to you. Dennis Boudreau

Johan,

Antoine Beliveau's wife, Clothilde's parents are the Joseph married to Marie-Agnes Montigny. Coincidentally, the Francois married to Clothilde Montigny also had children who settled in Woonsocket, RI. Joseph's daughter then must have been named after her aunt. Thanks for the linking info. To one answer I incorrectly gave Antoine's name as "Arthur", which I believe he also went by in certain records. But his real name is definitely Antoine.
Nice site, Michael. My grandmother was a Beliveau but from another branch. I did notice a couple of things you might want to fix: On the line of Amanda Beliveau (m to Pelletier) you need a "G" in Tingwick; and also, every time I;ve seen the name New Market it has always been spelled as one word: "Newmarket", NH. You might want to fix these items for future viewers. Other than these, great job! Best regards, Dennis
