Clare Belman was born in Detroit, MI, and was a long-time resident of the Washington, D.C. area. She died in her home in East Lansing, MI on Saturday, April 22, 2006. She earned her undergraduate degree at Ohio State University, and was one of the first women students to attend the Law School at the University of Wisconsin. There, in 1940, she met her husband, Albert, who was also a law school student. They were married 63 years and lived in Bannockburn, MD from 1952 until 2003. She served in the occupational forces in Germany and later worked in the Unemployment Compensation Policy Office of the U.S. Department of Labor. She retired in 1969.
She is survived by her sons, Robert of Tuscson, AZ, and Dale, of East Lansing, MI, grandchildren, Livia Violet & Aaron Maxwell.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, Lansing, MI.
