Sorry this reply is so late. There are two names listed and I don't remember writing the post, but I may have.
According to the 1930 US Census, Edward Christopher Belmont's Father was born in Ohio and his mother in Indiana.
My bigest problem is that I don't have either of their names for certain. A cousin lists them as Frank Belmont and Elizabeth Hersey, but then again she had W C Belmont and Risha Carharine as his parents. As to Edward Christopher Belmont, My father told me that E C changed his middle name but didn't have the faintest idea from what except that it started with a C.
Don Belmont

Grandfather - Harry Belmont

My Grandfather, Harry Belmont, left the UK in 1923, sailing to Quebec on the ship Athenia. He arrived in Quebec on the 23 July 1923.
I have details of his marriage in Lambert, Montana, on the 26th December 1928.
Is there an way I can, perhaps, discover where he was during the five years between the two events?
I live in the UK and have been trying to unravel Harry's events and travels.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Sue Morton

Jean L Belmont

I am looking for information on Jean L Belmont. He said was in the French Blue Devil in WWI, captured and deported to Canada and came into the U.S. through Pennsylvania. He wore the uniform of the Canadian military working through the a hospital. He married Margaret Maston and had a child, Elizabeth Belmont, but he was arrested for being a bigamist and deported to Swenden. When my husband was in the Navy he was removed from his job of delivering mail to the officers because his Gandfather Belmont had tried to blow up a tire company in Ohio that made dirigibles.

Re: BELMONT

Thank you, Stella, for responding. I'm guessing most of this is family folklore!

Jean Belmont was supposed to have married Margaret Lee Maston in Ingram, PA., and, according to census documents, she lived with her parents, Lura and Darius Earl Maston after gving birth to their daughter Elizabeth Yvonne Lee Belmont and Belmont was listed as being from Paris, France. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate and the copy of Elizabeth's birth certificate does not list her parents.

He wrote on a photo of him in a Canadian uniform that he worked at the mentioned hospital.

Belmont claimed he was part of the French Blue Devils when he was deported out of France to Canada by the Germans, who captured him.

When my husband was in teh Navy he had a job distributing the mail in Point Magoo in California. He was yanked from this job and was told he couldn't have any top secret jobs as his grandfather (Belmont) had tried to blow up the dirigible plant in Akron, Ohio.

There is a U.S. WWI draft registration card Serial # 4618, Order # A3026A for Belmont, that lists him as a citizen, but says he spent 27 months in the French Army and 18 months in the British Army. This card gives Belmont's birth date as 29 Sept 1884.

Like I said, a lot of this was passed down from one generation to the other so I don't know how much is true.

Again, thank you for your help.

They had two children: Amablis & Baptiste. Jean-Baptiste remarried August 30, 1858, at St-Francois, Gatineau, Quebec to Rachel "dit Angrave" Champagne who is my 2nd great grand mother.
