To Whom it might interest :
I found the following entry in my great grandfather's journal. He was John Jay Southwick, lived from 1856 to 1953. During this period in his life he was living in Dawson County, MT. Maybe someone out there trying to slueth out R.S. Belnap might be interested in his other name. If you want what little more is said about this trip let me know. This person is not mentioned elsewhere in what we have. I have no idea which name might be the original name, or if neither is.

May 1st, 1883 - Chas. LeRoy Clyde alias R.S. Belnap, my neighbor and I started for the western part of Montana to buy sheep, found them to suit us between Virginia City and Dillon W.W, corner of Territory, bought of James Underwood.
