I just ran across your message and see it is now 5 years old but if you still have the photo of Alice Belknap, I have an Alice Belknap in my genealogy - she is the wife of John Belknap altho I don't have any info on their ancestors, only their descendents. Alice would have been born about 1300 - do you think she is the same (if you still have it)?

Catherine Belnap Lobb GRLCJL7@cs.com

To Whom it might interest :

I found the following entry in my great grandfather's journal. He was John Jay Southwick, lived from 1856 to 1953. During this period in his life he was living in Dawson County, MT. Maybe someone out there trying to slueth out R.S. Belnap might be interested in his other name. If you want what little more is said about this trip let me know. This person is not mentioned elsewhere in what we have. I have no idea which name might be the original name, or if neither is.

Diana (Southwick) Crippen

May 1st, 1883 - Chas. LeRoy Clyde alias R.S. Belnap, my neighbor and I started for the western part of Montana to buy sheep, found them to suit us between Virginia City and Dillon W.W, corner of Territory, bought of James Underwood.
Steven, I don't show any of my ancestors living in Canada. It appears they come from Sawbridgeworth, Hertfortshire, England in the early 1600s Around the time your're inquiring about, I show David Belnap b. 3/24/1780 in Redding, Fairfield, Connecticut and d. 1858 in North East, Erie, Pennsylvania. He was married to Eunice Hall. Their son, Charles Avery Belnap was b. 6/7/1821 in Williamsfield, Ashtabula Co., Ohio, married Elizabeth North and d. 11/16/1878 in Ohio. Their son, Ralph Plumb Belnap was b. 10/6/1852 in Ohio, married to Lida J. Howell and d. 8/31/year unknown. He was my greatgrandfather. Most of the info on him I got from an undated obituary. I have more info (actually dating bk to 1470 when the name was Beltoft) and of course all the current info since Ralph. Does anything match up with your info?

Thanks for your reply. Do you know the names of your grandfather's father? My greatgrandfather, Ralph Plumb Belnap had 3 sons, two moved to Oregon but my Uncle Earl Osborne Belnap b. 1884 stayed in Ohio and possibly later moved to Pennsylvania. I know he had children but have no info on them. Could you be one of his descendents?

Have a Belnap relative of mine that came down to the USA from Durham, Ontario, Canada. Born there 22 Dec 1821. His parents died when he was young and he was apprenticed to a wagon wheel maker at 12, who was a shady dealer and had to leave town. Brought him down with him through NY, I think. Then over to Nauvoo, Illinois and convert to LDS church. Went with LDS saints when they exodus to SLC, Utah. He went to Hooper, Utah where he died. Have more info on him. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am looking for a BELNAP line.
Mine starts with my great-great grandmother
- Elizabeth Belnap (1838-1913)
married to Tom MacDonald (1834-1929)
(both buried in Shannonville Ontario Cemetery.)
Her father was a William Belnap (1812-1854)
(died of chlorea) and mother was
Julie Ann Gerow (1818-1887).
So can I go back any further as to where they
came from or are buried?
Thank you in advance,
Steve

I do have a problem. I wrote you about Carra Myrtle Blodget, who was born in Youngsville, PA and her Husband and family. It disapeared some where, but her goes again. She was my Grandmother and she and Spencer came to Bakersfield, Calif about 1885. Claude R. my oldest Uncle was born in PA , as were Percy and Rush. My dad and his brother were born in Bakersfield, Calif.

Hi,
I wonder if you have any info on my Belnap ancestors. My father was Ralph Maynard Belnap-his father was Hubert H Belnap-his father was Ralph P Belnap and his father was Charles A Belnap. Charles and Ralph P. lived in Andover, Ashtabula County, Ohio. Charles was married to Elizabeth and Ralph P was married toLida J Howell. I don't have too much info other than what I read in an obituary I have for Ralph P.

If you have any info on this line of the family, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks in advance,
Catherine Belnap Lobb
