First Generation

1. Walter Francis BELSHE-[313]1 was born on 20 Feb 1875 in Madill, Marshall Co., OK., died on 22
Jul 1933 in Kerr Ranch, NM. at age 58, and was buried in 1933 in Mt. View Cem., Lordsburg, NM.
General Notes: He died while living on the Kerr Ranch, where he had been working. He is
buried at Lordsburg, NM. Onie and John Guess are buried at Globe, Az.
Walter F. and Nannie are on the 1900 (Cumberland, IT (OK) Chickasaw Nation-Dist. 128) and
1910 Federal Census Odell, Marshall, OK. He was a farmer, and both his parents were born
in Missouri.Nannie Darrow was b. May 1881 in Indian Territory, OK. (Chickasaw Nation)

Walter's draft card, Sept. 15, 1918 gives wife as Nannie and birth date and place. He had blue
eyes and dark hair.

His son, Walter Frank BELSHE also was in Draft Registration for Sept. 15 1918, Madill, Marshall
Co., OK. birthdate was Feb 20 1898.

Walter married Nannie Ann Darrow-[19940] [MRIN: 699], daughter of Francis Marion
DARROW-[20690] and Emily Caoline HULSE-[20691], from about 1898 to 1899. (parents not proved) Nannie was
born on 27 May 1881 in Cumberland, Marshall, IT. OK., died on 14 Oct 1918 in Cumberland,
Marshall, OK. at age 37, and was buried in Cumberland Cem..

General Notes: She was on the 1910 census with Walter and the children in Marshall, OK.
Age 26
She may died there. I heard from Grandma Nora that Ivy's mother died fairly young.
Nannie died after 1918.....she was listed on Walters WW I Draft Registration. She died just
one month after Walter and Frank registered for the draft. Nannie's headstone reads
'MANNA" Darrow BELSHE.


She is buried at the Cumberland Cem near Madill, Ok, as is her son Wm. F. Belshe. They
both died within days of each other......perhaps an epicdemic of some sort???

5 M iv. Charles Olan BELSHE-[7346]1 was born on 27 Jan 1907 in McCurtain, OK. and
died on 27 Nov 1981 in Oroville, California at age 74.
Charles married Allena BLOCKER-[20688] [MRIN: 7781] (b. 19 May 1918, d. 28
Jan 1998).
6 M v. Murray P. BELSHE-[12718]1 was born on 6 Sep 1909 in Timber Hills, Marshall, OK.
and died in Jul 1970 in Phoenix, AZ. at age 60.
Murray married Faye Hamblin-[20687] [MRIN: 7780] on 7 Apr 1932 in Aztec, San Juan, NM.

Walter next married Onie F. BARRETT-[1662] [MRIN: 700], daughter of William J. BARRETT[
20779] and Hulda A. UNKNOWN-[20780], about 1920. Onie was born on 17 May 1896 in OK., died
on 15 Jan 1975 in Lordsburg, Hidalgo, NM. at age 78, and was buried in Globe, Arizona.

Noted events in their marriage were:

Marriage: Marriage date of 1920 is estiate from census record, saying she was married first at
age 22.

General Notes: Onie had only one child, a son, and I believe it was John Guess' but it died as
a very young infant, and is buried at Steins, NM. cemetery.
Walter BELSHE was a sick man, and he died while working at the Kerr
Ranch. Onie and Walter never had any children of their own.
Walter was still married to Nannie (Darrow) in Sept 12 1918 when he filled out his WW I draft
card.He give his birthdate on the card.


I found Walter F. and Onie in the 1930 census in Maricopa, Arizona census. He was working
in the cotton fields. With them is Walter's son, Murray P.Belshe age 21 born in Oklahoma.
Walters age is 56 and Onie's age is 32.
I also found Jeneral and Ivy (BELSHE) White there in Higley, Maricopa Co, AZ. Jeneral was
working as a Cotton Gin foreman, and their children, Donald and Helen White were with them.
Walter, Nannie and Frank were in Chickasaw Nation, IT (OK) in 1900 census, District 128.

Next door neighbors were Charlie Carl and May White ....Carl's mother Lucinda Jane
Haggard White age 66, is in this household as well) Ivy BELSHE above, would later marry to
Jeneral Lee White, (a nephew to Carl White-) a son of John S. and Mary E. Goggans White)
Carl is John S. White's brother.


Also next door is relatives to the White family, Docie White (age 29)and her husband Andrew
Hammonds. (age 28) and three of their children Rosa age 7, Lida age 6 and Emma P.
Hammonds age 2. "Dosie" (Mecia Donnie White) is the sister to John S. and Carl White.

2. William Frank BELSHE-[7345]1 (Walter Francis 1) was born on 20 Feb 1898 in Cumberland,
Chicasaw Nation, IT (OK), died on 7 Oct 1918 in Cumberland, Oklahoma at age 20, and was buried in
Cumberland Cem..
General Notes: Found on the 1900 census. age 1. Cumberland, Marshall, OK.


His WW I draft card give his birthdate and place. He was living at Madill, Marshall Co. OK. at
time of registration: Sep 15 1918.

He registered for the draft the same day his father did, and his mother died just one month after
they registered.
William also died within a few days or so of his mother (Oct. 7, 1918)
His headstone says he was born Mar 30, 1899, but draft record has a different date. I use his
date that was on draft reg. because he is the one who gave that information.
I wonder if there was an epicdemic or something that caused him and his mother to die the
same month?????


3. Ivy Emma BELSHE-[358]1, 2, 3 (Walter Francis 1) was born in 1902.2, 3
Ivy married Jeneral Lee WHITE-[357]2, 3 [MRIN: 103], son of John Stinchcomb WHITE-[73] and
Mary Ethel GOGGANS-[224], on 29 Apr 1919 in Oklahoma.2, 3 Jeneral was born on 19 Jun 1897 in
Durwood, OK,2, 3 died 4 Dec1968 in Houston, Harris, TX.,2, 3 and was buried in Houston National
Cemetery, Houston, TX..

Date of birth is from WWI registration card.(dated Aug. 22 1918) He was attending (Robis?)

and Lt. Brn. Hair.
He and Ivy lived at Fabens, TX. (a suburb of El Paso) for awhile after selling the White's Camp
to Hubert and Nora. His last residence on the ssdi card was 77029 Houston, Harris, TX.
Dates are also on his headstone.

I don't remember where Helen White NIX lives (it seems to me that she spelled her name
Hellen) Her older brother Donald and his wife lived in Hurst, TX. for years and probably still do.
Before he retired he worked for Bell Helicopter Company testing helicopters. Isn't that
interesting? The address I have for him is 709 Norwood Dr. Hurst, TX. 76053. I have not been
in contact with them since a year or so before mother, Votra died. She has been gone three
years. I have a telephone number that may or may not still be good.1-817-268-1753.

Descendants of Walter Francis BELSHE


Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Southern Hills Church of
Christ where he was a Deacon. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of
Abilene and a Key City Ham Radio Club.
Graduated from Fabens (TX.) High School, was an head instructor at
Abilene Texas State Institute.
He died very suddenly, aparently of a heart attack, on the job, teaching
a class how to repair an antenna on the roof of a classroom building, at


7:31 pm. Attempts to revivie him failed. He had lived in Abilene for
about 15 years.
Funeral Services were conducted by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Memorials
were to be made to a scholarship fund, SELF, Inc.
His funeral notice said he has three step-sisters and several neices and
nephews, but they were not named.
John married Betty OHLHAUSEN-[7353] [MRIN: 2787].

This afternoon Joan and I went to Mother Votra's house to go through more
of her things. There was a letter from John White's widow, Betty White,
Uncle Jenerals daughter-in-law. She had not learned of mother's death and
was telling her about her son John D's death an apparent murder. He was
their youngest son, and was 37 years old and had a new business. He was
an artist with quite a few accomplishments. He was dumped in a dry creek
bed. So sad. I don't know much about it. I did send her a card and let
her know that we sympathize with her. I also let her know of mother,
Votra's death. Mother loved Betty as she did all of her kin. As always I
wish I knew them better.
