I am puzzled by a Frederick County Maryland record I found regarding the John TYLER (1763-1841) estate. The 4th and Final Accounting recorded in TS5/526,527,528 dated May 12, 1852 included a distribution "To Susan BELT, William BELT, Trueman BELT and Robert BELT, children of intestates sister Elizabeth BELT, also deceased".
Samuel BELT was not mentioned. So, he remained "unfound" [for lack of a better word] as far as the Maryland court was concerned.
Your scenerio is still plausible, given the activities you pointed out which were taking place in the country at the time. I hope you have success finding positive proof.
