Hello Janet,
The book you are referring to may be the one we had that has been lost and ifv you get this post I would like to know where i can get a copy of it.If it has the family line I am from the Anna Belville is my mother from Centralia Washington, born there in June 16th, 1904 and her father was James(called Jim) and mother was Effie Brown. I am her last living son and am 83 years old born in 1926.

We are looking for a book someone did on the Bellville family geneology published aprox. 1990 or any other such material on this familiy's history. Thank-you for solving the mystery of the Nye surname.
I couldnt work out why on the census returns harriet was listed as Elizabeth and williams daughter and with the Belville surname.I was going down the wrong road looking for a birth of a Harriet ann Belville,that of course i couldnt find.
Harriets daughter Mary Jane who is my great grandmother has the surname Nye on her birth certificate but no fathers name,so you can see my query in the Nye surname.
Im unable to find a marriage of Harriet ann Nye, apart from mary J born 1866 she had a son Alfred Nye born about 1858.
So your information now tells me that Elizabeth Nash is my Great Great Great Grandmother and William Belville is not my Great Great Great Grandfather.
Harriet lived at 22 Washington street Brighton in the Belville Household.

In 1841 William Belville is living in Broadwater with Elizabeth Nye and her 2 children Harriet [3] and Henry [7].
Harriet Ann Nye was baptised in Broadwater 22nd Sept 1839, parents Henry Nye and Elizabeth.
I've had a quick look and cannot find the death of Henry or the marriage of William Belville and Elizabeth. I did find that Elizabeth Nash married Henry Nye 11th Nov. 1833.
My Louisa was first cousin to William and Elizabeth's children.
Please let me know about Harriet, did she marry and live in Sussex?

yes, this is the same family. William has several siblings born in Folkestone Kent. The family then moved to Broadwater, Worthing, where William [1816]and his sister Margaret [1817]were born.

Im not sure yet if there is a link however i will tell you what i have for now, although my reasearch is still ongoing.
I beleive my great great great grandfather to be a WILLIAM Belville born about 1819 Worthing.
William and wife Elizabeth have several children, to name a few, Kate, George, Rebbeca, LOUISA and who i beleive to be my great great Grandmother Harriett Ann all born in the district of Brighton.
Do any of these names mean anything to you?

My Louisa was the illigitimate daughter of Mary Ann Belville and born in Broadwater, Worthing, 1838.
However, Mary Ann's brother William had a daughter Louisa born in Brighton about 1846. Is this your family?

Thomas Belville, wife Mary McCarty Born 1860s Noble Co. Ohio

Dec 2002 a glgdb requested info on Cora Belville who married William Lorenz. I believe she was the daughter of Thomas Belville and Mary McCarty who were my great grandparents. Their children were Cora, Forest, Cleo, Wm, Major, Gwen, Willard, Samuel, Myron, and Bessie. They lived in Muskingum and Morgan counties as well as Noble Co.
Cora Lorenz was in Liberty, Guernsey County in 1920 and in Cambridge, Guernsey County, Ohio in 1930. She had two daughters, one was Mildred. In Jan. 1946 she was in Columbus, Ohio. I believe she died in Columbus, Ohio. That is all I have on them. I am the granddaughter of her brother Samuel which is how I have the info. I am trying to find out more about the family too.

Hello I have a record for a Rebecca Belleville/Belville/Belveal born 1793 in New Castle County, Deleware. She could have been born in 1789 though because there is a gap in her siblings there (one sib b. 1787 one b. 1791) She was daughter of James Belleville and Ann. Her siblings included: Peter, Ann, James, Alida and Mary. The children were all born in New Castle County, Deleware. James (dad) died in Ohio and Peter m. in Kentucky and died in Shelby Co, Indiana. Many members of this family ended up in that part of the country.

If you think this could be your Rebecca I can get you more information.

I am a descendant of Ichabod and Marinda (Malinda?) (Bellville) SIBOLE. Marinda, on the 1880 Grand Junction Twp., VanBuren County, MI Census responses indicated her father was from Delaware and her mother from Maryland.

Your 2001 post says that Peter Bellville was from Delaware and therefore I am wondering if my "Marinda" was his daughter Malinda. Do you know if Peter's wife, Phebe Bennett, was from Maryland? Do you know who Malinda married? My "Marinda" married an Ichabod SIBOLE. The Siboles made it to Van Buren County, MI by at least the 1860 Census.

Anyone searching for Belville family in UK? I have a copy of the Folkestone settlement papers for a John Belville, 1790. On it it states he was 'a foreigner, born in France'. Born about 1751, he married in Sussex, 1775. May have connections to a Belville family living in St Marylebone, London.

I just noticed that my previous reply was truncated and did not make much sense.

In the 1850 census, Paris Twp, Union Co, Ohio, Ichabod and Marinda Sibold are listed between the Joseph Belville family and the Nicholas Belville family, so I would guess that Marinda was the daughter of Joseph and sister of Nicholas.

From the 1850 census Joseph was born in Delaware and his wife Sarah was born in Maryland (consistent with the 1880 census record for Marinda Sibole's parents.)

From the History of Union County Ohio, Leesburg Twp:

I found the following:

"In 1833, Joseph Bellville, from Belmont County, settled on the farm on Blues Creek, which his son Sylvanus now owns. Joseph died here in 1863. The same history listed Jamed Sibold & Joseph Bellville as early settlers of Union Co. Also, Joseph and Sarah Bellville were listed as early members of the "Blues Creek Christian, or New Light Church, located on the Marysville & Pharisburg pike... which was organized in 1833 or 1834."

There is also a family tree on ancestry.com for Joseph Bellville which shows a daughter named Miranda, born in Belmont Co Ohio in 1829 (same age as the wife of Ichabod) so it seems very likely that this is your family. The ancestry tree shows Joseph being descended from Jean BELLEVILLE, birth: ABT. 1620 in Ille de Re, France

He was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Browning, the son of Glen and Elva Newell Belville.

Mr. Belville was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1960-66. He retired from Midland Coal Co. in Farmington in 1989 after 26 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 644 in Fairview, Vermont Lodge 116 AF&AM and First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown.

Survivors: son, Jeffrey (wife, Tonya) Belville of Banner; a grandson; two brothers, Robert (wife, Mary Lou) Belville of Astoria and George (wife, Lyn) Belville of Beardstown; and four sisters Iola (husband, Carl) Stoneking, Donna (husband, Jack) Thurman and Bonita Hill, all of Beardstown, and Betty Briney of Browning.

I'm looking for any and all info regaurding Anna Ellen Bellvill b. about 1905. She married William Callender Muckey and had 4 children, one dying in infancy. She died in the 1990's in Colorado. She was blind at the end of her life.

Mabel Archelia Belvill b 26 mar 1893 in kansas (I think) married Joseph Everett Muckey in 1919. She died in 1976.

I have no information on these women's family and I was wondering if they could be sisters. Joseph Everett is William Calender's uncle. Any onfo on thid confusion would be greatly appreciated.

I am sure one of their sons were Maurice James Belville b. 1878 in Hamilton Co., OH. Maurice James m. Estella Long, b. maybe 1884. I do know that Maurice James and Estella had several children, one being my grandfather, John Lester Belville/Bellville, b. April 29, 1907, in Hamilton Co., OH. He also notes father to be Jean Belville and his father also Jean Belville (St Martin, I'lle de Re', France m Susanne Arnaud.)
