I am looking for sources for the birth and death of Alvin Bemis Hancock.
This is the information I have: Nancy Agusta Bemis was born on August 31, 1848. Nancy is the daughter Alvin Bemis and Jerusha Guernsey. Alvin Bemis was born 1794 in Dummerston, Windham County, Vermont and died November 9, 1847 In Winter Quarters Nebraska Temple, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. Jerusha Guernsey was born June 11, 1799 in Ellisburg, Jefferson County, New York and died November 9, 1872 in San Bernardino, San Bernardino County, California.
The 1st source I have is for Alvin Bemis' birth is: U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900. This source give the year only.
The 2nd source I have is for Alvin Bemis' birth is: Bureau of Vital Statistic. This source give the year only.
If any one has a souce for the whole date could you please share it with me.
The 1st source I have is for Alvin Bemis' death is: "San Bernardino Sun" Sunday Edition: May 10, 1987 in a artical "S. B. pioeer mother braved hardships for family"
This source says he became ill and died when the family was traveling from Gainsville, Michigan to Iowa. All the genealogies and other information I can find say he died in Winter Quarters Nebraska Temple, Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska. But none of them have sources. The problem is Nabraska is past Iowa. So he died before they even got close to Nabraska, if the newspaper artical is correct.
The 2nd source I have for his death is: Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Our Pioneer Heritage, Kate Carter Vol 3. this source is used at "http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rogercoval...". I have not been able to find a copy or it quoted on the internet so I could see what it actually says. If anyone has a copy or know where I can find it on the internet will you please share it with me.
