David, There is not a charge for photos. hahaha Samuel was not born in Conneaut, it states he came from NY and I think but not sure he was born in Ct. The cemetary is called Lakeville Cemetary it is very old and was very unkept for years. Alot of our relatives are buried there but hoodlums went and decided to vandalize old sandstone headstones broke them and all and now that whole area is missing the head stones. I still go to Conneaut and I am going to look into this as the graves should be marked. There is a large Bemus Monument and it has been moved and broken as well Samuel, sarah, babies, my great grandmoter Nina, It is heartbreaking that graveyard. do you have a emaIL? mine is rose_barrett@hotmail.com . I will send u the photos. I dont have any of people. Sometimes I search old photos looking for my grandmother Etta. AND IT IS SO COOL TO KNOW I HAVE A COUSIN SOMEWHERE!

Rose ,thank you for responding to me so quickly. I would love to have a copy of any pictures you might and information on where they were buried. I will be happy to reimburse you for any expense you might incur.
It's so sad that history went up in smoke in the house fire, but it must be exciting you lived with your grandma in the House our Great... Grandfather built.
Much of the information I've come across, state Samuel and Sarah Fanny were born is Conneaut, Ohio, yet I'm sure that wasn't the case, do you have any information that could shed some light on this situation? Thank you again for responding, IT's always fun for me to come in contact with cousins, regardless of how distant they are.

Dave Samuel is my 5th great grandfather. My grandmother Etta lived in the house he built in Ohio and when I was ssmall we lived there aS WELL. After my grandmother died we moved away and we had a huge house fire and lost everything, so history went up that day. I know where they are buried I have photos of that and I can share with you if you would like. my tree is public on my ancestry page if you would like to see how far I have gotten. have a great day!
Rose,

My name is David Braithwaite, Samuel was my 4th great grandfather. His grand daughter Harriet Amelia,Bemus, married my great Grandfather Robert Braithwaite. I have been researching the Bemus line this last few months and find Samuel and Fanny the most elusive in terms of early years. I still have some stones unturned so I'll let you know if I find out anything more.
DAve

They never seem to show up in the indexes...I think because of the spelling/handwriting. I did not even know there was a marriage between Tourjee/Bemus until the name on the deed.

I amin possession of a letter from Marvin P. Bemus of 207 Shiloh Street, Mt. Washington, Pittsburgh, PA, dated November 29, 1917, in response to a letter from my mother, whom he addresses as "My Dear Cousin." The letter discusses their mutual ancestor,Margaret Forster Stuart, maker of the "Don't Give Up The Ship" flag and an article he wrote regarding her feat. In the letter, he also mentions Aunt Adelaide Lacock, their mutual aunt. I have heard both Lacock and Bemus surnames mentioned as close relatives, but would very much appreciate learning their direct line from Margaret Forster Stuart and her husband, Thomas Stuart, of Erie, Pennsylvania. I believe that the Lacocks lived near Rochester, Pennsylvania.

BEMUS grave markers in Johnson Cemetary, Piqua, Oh

Near Piqua, Oh is a very old cemetary dating back to 1812. In this cemetary are three old headstones side by side and appear to be all children. They are marked "Baby Paul", "Little Pearlie" and "Luther Erastus". There is no other info on them other than "BEMUS" on the top of each. They all identical including weathering, suggesting a triple fatality event.
I have check all available sources for the records and have come up dry.

Please let me know if you have ANY info on this family or event.
