We are searching for David Benard b. 1865 in Canada, who is my great-grandfather. We believe that Joseph and David were brothers. David married Philomene Foisey, 21 Nov 1910 in West Springfield Mass. They had two daughters, Philomene Marie Lydia Bernard, born 1 Dec 1892 and Eva Marie Velina Bernard, born 9 Aug 1894. Velina or Eveline as she was known, is my grandmother. She married Samuel Pierre Provensal. This is my mother, Lydia Provensal Tysz, parents. The only infor we have on David is 3 other brothers, Joseph Benard married to Rose Simon, Mitchell Benard, Wilfred Benard. David died at age 40 in Mass, unknown where buried. I had a Benard who was my GGgrandfather, I don,t know his first name , but he married Cathrine Lajoy from the NYState area. She died from heart falure. at her daughters home I believe in Watertown, NY , Her daughter was Lena Marino. My mother told me abt. Cathrine Bennard her Grandmother, so I,m a little foggy abt. details. my mother was Ellen Cathrine Marino, she married Robert Sawyer.If any of this makes any sense I would love to hear from you all.

Atlee Benard, dairyman circa 1870-1885

Am looking for Atlee Benard, who owned and ran a dairy farm between 1870 and 1885. Our family's oral history says that Mr. Benard employed my g-grandfather James Leary (a.k.a. William James McCleery) in that time frame. I don't know where. The men became close friends.

After leaving Mr. Benard's employ (no later than 1885), my g-grandfather settled on the Brazos River near Houston. The 1901 Galveston hurricane spawned tornadoes and floods that wiped out everything my g-grandfather owned, and nearly killed him and his family. Mr. Benard drove a wagon-load of supplies to the area to help my g-grandfather and his family. My g-grandmother was six months pregnant (with my grandfather) at the time of the hurricane. In gratitude for Mr. Benard's help, she named the child Atlee Benard McCleery.

Any help in finding this good samaritan is appreciated.

Need information on Anthony Benard and his wife Agnes Czech. Agnes was born in 1918. She is on the 1930 census as 12 years old. Her parents were Rochus Czech and his 5th wife Bridgett "Elba" Kupczek-later Sowa.. I don't know when Anthony and Agnes married or if they had children.

150th Anniversary of Augustus Benard's arrival in Sydney NSW

Augustus BENARD was a 29 year old foreign seaman serving on the migrant ship Constitution which arrived in Sydney Australia on 27 May 1855 from London under Capt George Farmer Trader. Dr Alexander Cumming was Surgeon. There were many deaths on the Constitution voyage & later in quarantine. The ship was not released from quarantine until mid July. A monument was erected at the North Head Quarantine Station to commemorate the voyage & those who died. A reunion of surviving passengers was held in 1905 at the memorial site. The monument survives, see http://nla.gov.au/nla.pic-an23816980 . The 150th anniversary of the voyage is to be celebrated on 17 July 2005 at the North Head Quarantine Station, Manly NSW. I have a Villeneuve website and have been research for Georgina for quite some time now on the Benard/Tranchemontagne/Villeneuve because Georgina's family was living in Gracefield, in the county of Wright. The names you mention are correct and it is a part of Georgina's family.

Are you sure it is Amasse and not Armasse? I do have a great Grand Father his name is Armasse. My Dad has a lot of history of them. They are not from Gatineau though Unfortunatly we are descendents of Acadians and they were from France (and possibly some African) deschendence. If you want some more info well I can always ask my dad he likes this kind of stuff...

I,m the one needing info on Ira,he was my ggrandfather also. John R. Barnard b.1870 I believe was one of Ira sons from Law.Co. Ky. that married America Salmons and moved to Lincoln Co. W.Va around 1900. John was my grandfather. I was told he had a merchant boat. orv.

The Benard's in my family tree are from Sweden. Oral family history says the name was changed at Ellis island. We believe it was Bennardson or some version of that.

Looking for parents and siblings for Melvin Wesley Benard b. 3/10/1877. I cannot find any trace of him before 12/1904 when he married my great aunt Anna Franklin-Lee in Phillipsburg, Phillips Co., KS. Then they moved to Denver Colorado and had two daughters Edith b.KS abt. 1906 and Helen b. CO abt. 1911. In the 1910 & 1920 Colorado Census he states he was born in Wyoming, father unknown and mother in Norway. I can't find any trace of him, Anna or Edith in the 1930 Census. Helen is in Seattle, WA with her step-sister Cora Alma Lee-Sheridan and her husband.

I have a Marie Benard in my lines who was married to Mathurin Tetreau and gave birth to Louise Tetreault about 1634 in either the parish St-Martin-de-Liguge,diocese of Lucon, in the ancient province of Poitou in France. Louise came to Trois-Riveres, Quebec by 1660. Maybe Marie came with him and remarried ??

Per the 1920 census, they were living in Dunellen, Middlesex Co., NJ, at the ages of 44 and 46, respectively, both were born in NJ as were both of their parents. He was a Cabinetmaker. Irving's mother was Mary, 79, widowed.

Katherine passed away in March 1928 and was interned in Washington Twp., Warren Co., NJ.

My gggrandparents were also Jean Baptiste Benard and Seraphine Tranchemontagne - my ggrandmother was their daughter Octavie who married Jeremiah Firmin Villeneuve and their daughter Georgina (Georgianna, Georgine) was my grandmother and born in Hull. I am in touch with Patricia Gee of Michigan who led me to my Benard lineage - her grandmother was Beatrice, twin of Oscar, and children of Joseph Benard and Marie Henri (she sent me a copy of their picture). I was able to trace my Benard relatives with the help of Patricia's work - started in 1977 and ongoing - she goes back to 1696. It is a long story but it has been most fruitful.

Who were the first of your family to go to New Brunswick? I know that both my grandfather Damase Benard and my grandmother Amanda (Menard) Benard were from very large families in the Gatineau Valley. Is this where your relatives also live? Tracy.

I could not find any of the names you mentioned
in the history I have of my Quebec ancestors. The
history I do have is not complete, so maybe we
are related somehow. Most of my Benard relatives
(including my grandparents) were born at or around
Wright, Quebec. My great-great grandfather was
J. Bte. Benard, born on June 22, 1817 at Rigaud. His
wife (my gg grandmother) was Seraphine Tranchemontagne
who was born July 9, 1819 at Montral. My great grandparents
were Joseph Benard (July 19, 1849 at Rigaud) and L. Marie Henrie
(Feb. 11, 1861 at Lac Ste. Marie). My grandparents
were Damase Benard (b. May 18, 1885 Wright) and
my grandmother was Amanda Menard (b. Apr. 20, 1886 Wright?).Do you have any of these relatives in your family tree?
I have lots of other names, as both the Menards
and Benards are from large families.

Ira was born in Elliot Co. Ky in 1820 and died near Fallsburg in 1920 at the home of his son Jesse. Ira was my Great-Great Grandfather.
