The parents are listed as Leon and Eugene Dutour Bendix. I am not sure that this is the same parents as the other children but probably is. I have some other information on these people and will get that to you also when I send the other information.

Although this is not my family line I do have a birth certificate and also a marriage certificate for Theresa Bendix. I got these from the LA Achives in Baton Rouge, LA while doing research there. I can scan and send you a copy of them if you like.
Anyway, here is the what is on them.

Birth Certificate: 113-158
Charles Bendix, a native of this city residing at 610 Carollton Ave. who hereby declares that on the twenty fourth of January 1898 (Jan. 24/98) at his residence was born a female child names Mary Theresa Catherine Bendix (white) Lawful issue of Deponent a native of this city aged 38 years, occupation Pipe coverer and Eugenie Dutour a native of this city, aged 31 years.

Marriage Certificate: 43-407
This is to certify, that, it appears from the Records of this office, that on this day....was registered a marriage, celebrated in the City of New Orleans, La., by Rufus? McHarly? on the 26 day of November 1919 between Gerald Benchman Young (24) years, a native of NOL son of ? J. Yound and Josephine Schaeffer and Miss Theresa Bendix (21) years, a native of NOL daughter of Charles Bendix and Eugenie Detour(sic). The celebration of the marriage was performed in the presence of the witnesses E. H? Drisade?, A? M. Young.

(Note: The handwriting on the marriage certificate was hard to read so some of the names I really couldn't make out very well.) I know from my research that Charles and Eugenie had other children but right now I can't remember what their names were.

If I can be of further help, let me know.
Carol
Our Oscar Bendix b. Dec. 1870 in New Orleans, Louisiana was married to Adele Demare b. 1876 in Louisiana. They were married in Feb. 1893 in New Orleans. They had 6 children of which two were named Oscar.

David Oscar b. Sept. 1899 married Helen Frances Nagel in New Orleans in June 1925.

Oscar, Jr. b. Feb. 1903 married twice. First wife was Mary Anna Gomez, second wife was Anna Marie Schneider. Both of the wives names I got from the obituary of Oscar, Jr.

I don't have any Laua Bickerstaff concerning any of the Oscars. Hope this helps even if it only rules someone out.
Dear Mary,

I do remember a William Bendix, someone who was in the military, I believe. I remember so little from my childhood. Our family moved out to Long Island from New Jersey in the 1950's. After that, I don't think we had much contact with anyone. I get the impression that my grandfather, Fred, was sort of the family "loser." I never remember him working, just my grandmother Elizabeth. I don't know if he was ill and couldn't work, or just didn't want to!

My father, George, was the only surviving son of Fred and Elizabeth. Their son John died when he was five years old of pneumonia. George married my mother, Chisato, when he was in Japan after WW II.

If any of this sounds even remotely familiar to anyone in your family, I would appreciate a response.

Sincerely,

Julie Bendix Markese

Am still interested
in looking further - my Adolph died in New
Orleans 1958. His obit lists 2 sisters, Mary
and Carrie in Hammond, La, also says 'brother
of B Wiltrich of this city', but no one seems
to know who B. Wiltrich is (male/female?).
This is confusing because Adolph was married
to Margaret Wichterich.
I have found his parents - ALEX BENDIX and
ELIZABETH GERBER. Let me know if we have a
connection. Thanks, Chris

ADOLPH BENDIX

Adolph Bendix, son of Alex Bendix (was
Bendixen) and Barbara Elizabeth Gerber, was
my grandfather. To my knowledge, he had five
siblings - Carrie, Louise, Mary, Oscar and
Alex.
Adolph married Margaret Wichterich (daughter
of Henry Wichterich and Margaret Lotz - both
from Germany). They had seven children:
Albert (1892), Lillian (1894), Joseph (1896),
Louise (1898), Charles (1900), Nettie (1902)
and Marion (1910).
Does this sound like the Adolph in question?

Chris, I am a cousin of Carol Carvalho we have been doing our family search thing together.Mary Bendix lived with my parents from about 1960 till right before her death and went to NO where she died and is buried. Her sister Carrie is buried there also. I probably have some more info somewhere and also have some pictures, if you are interested. Will look forward to hearing from you.( I am related in the same manner as Carol. Her mother and my father were siblings. It seems as though I remeber Aunt Mary talking about a Bea which possibly might be a sister. I will have to look and see if I have an obit somewhere.)I know Carrie and Mary were buried in N.O.

Possible link

There is a Alphons Bendix in my family tree whose brother was J. Henry Bendix from N.O. I don't have any other information about Alphons, such as birth dates, etc. but he had quite a few brothers and sisters, some who died at birth or quite young. I will get in touch with my aunt and see if this is possibly the same Alphons and get back to you with it. This Alphons father was Alexander H. Bendix and mother was Barbara Elizabeth Gerber. Does this sound like it could be who you are hunting for?
