Thank you for your reply on Jan. 1, 2012. I am enjoying doing my research on the Benedicks. My mother's maiden name was Donna Benedick. She was raised in Plainville, Kansas. He lineage is Worden Benedick (her father),Ora Benedick (her grandfather), Albert Benedick (her great grandfather), John Benedick (her great great grandfather), and finally Phillip Benedick (her great great great grandfather). Thanks for letting me know about finding the marriage record from 1830 of Philip Benedick and Sarah Harmon. I will look for this for my records. I haven't been able to go back any further than Philip Benedick (1777).

I started working on the Benedick Geneology about 4 years ago and then put it down. My Benedick relatives wrote down many details for the family tree about 50 years ago. I am using these facts, plu researching on the internet through websites and ancestry.com. I haven't been able to get any further back than Philiip Benedick (1777). I also have the info on his son, Philip Benedick marrying Sarah Harmon. I'm sure you have found the website findagrave.com helpful. Many of my Benedick relatives come from Plainville, Kansas. This is where my mother grew up, Donna Benedick. My grandfather is Worden Benedick of Plainville, Kansas.

I hope you can help me resolve questions about the Benedicks in Ohio. I find 5 families in the 1850 census: Sarah (b~1807), Washington (b~1815), Elias (b~1821), Levi (b~1818) and John (b~1806). I believe I am descended from Sarah's son Philip (b. 1838).

I see in another post that Philip who married Sarah Harmon may be the brother of Washington, Elias, Levi and John. Maybe he died before 1850? Could he be Philip II with Philip (b~1777) who lived with John in 1850 being their father?

I am eager to share information on Philip (b. 1838). Thanks.

I hope you've made some progress since this post in 2007. I am wondering about a Philip Benedick (1777) I found in the 1850 census for Harrison Cty, Ohio. He is in one of five Benedick families in that county. My 2nd great grandfather is also Philip Benedick (1838). I think he is part of the Sarah Benedick (1807) family in Harrison Cty. I also have a marriage record from 1830 for Philip Benedick and Sarah Harmon, but childrens ages call into question whether it is the same Sarah. I'm trying to figure out how all these Benedick families may be related.

I am researching the Benedick/Benedict line that came to Rooks County KS from Harrison County, Ohio in the mid 1800's. I am a descendent of Cora B. (BENEDICK) WATKINS, her father was George W BENEDICK born 08 May 1844 in Harrison Co., Ohio, his father was John BENEDICK born abt 1806 in Lancaster Co., PA, his father was Philip BENEDICK born abt 1777 in York Co., PA.

It has been posted that Sybilla ENT was John BENEDICK's mother, I do not believe that Sybilla ENT was John BENEDICK's mother, as I found Philip BENEDICK age 73 living with John in the 1850 Ohio, Harrison, German Twp. Census, and there is also a Philip BENEDICK age 80 living with wife Sybilla in the 1850 Lancaster Co., PA census.

Looking to share information with anyone related to this line.
Thanks,
Kim Jones
booniestamper@netzero.net

Re: John and Philip Benedick

I am a descendent of John's son, George Washington Benedick, ggrandfather. My mother, Velma, was born in Plainville, KS, but grew up homesteading in CO.

I did some Benedick research several years ago. I am a teacher planning on retiring this academic year. At that time I will be doing genealogy intensely again. I would love to get into contact with you, however, your email addresses are not current.

Kim, my research supports your belief that Philip Benedick, listed on the 1850 Harrison Co., OH federal census, was not married to Sibylla Ent in PA. Philip Benedick appears on the 1820 census in North Twn., Harrison Co., as well as the 1830 & 1840 census records for German Twn., Harrison Co, OH. Although names are not listed, the other family members listed by sex and age seem consistent with research. Additionally, on a Harrison Co. deed record in Book H, p. 259, Philip's wife is listed as Catherine.
