BOARDMAN - Donald L. Bennett, 79, died July 20, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
Mr. Bennett was born June 28, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) a son of Joseph and Margaret (Turner) Bennett.
A 1953 graduate of South High School, he was in sales all his life, having started at his father’s appliance store. He went on to work for various furniture and appliance stores including Morgan Furniture, Goldstein’s Furniture, Sears, JCPenney, and Quality Mattress.
Don was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.
He coached Boardman Youth basketball and baseball. He was an avid Youngstown State, Ohio State, and all Cleveland sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, the former Eileen Larson of Boardman, whom he married June 22, 195; one daughter, Susan Moran of Boardman; one son, Doug Bennett of Columbus; one brother, J. Richard (Gwen) Bennett of Poland; three grandchildren, Caitlin Moran, Christopher Bennett and Brandon Bennett; two nieces, Terrie Bennett of Poland and Jill Bennett of Poland; one nephew, Richard (Julie) Bennett of Painesville; and six great-nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Bennett.
Services will be held at the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Peter Del Nagro officiating.
Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman, and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
