My gg..grandmother was Louisa Bennett, thought to be of Lewes, DE who married 1st William Schellinger of Cape May. After he died in a freak accident on the Delaware River, she married a Captain Saint. Her son from her first marraige, William Schellinger, who was only 5 when his dad died in 1839, changed his name to Whitney, and it is possible this name was chosen because of some Bennett connection. He named his first son Harry Bennett Whitney.
