I am trying to help a friend find her bennett roots. I live in Fayetteville/Fayette County WV. My parents own the old Romeo Bennett farm and just down the road is Judge William Bennett's mansion. Somewhere in this vicinity there is a Bennett Family cemetery. In 1919, Judge Bennett's son, William Jr. married a Della Taylor. Mrs. Bennett was murdered one evening shortly there after and it was assumed that William Jr. was the murderer. He was taken to the jail in Fayetteville and because the murder caused such an uproar, he was heavily guarded for his own safety. A fews days went by and the guards felt all had settled down and they left him alone and a mob broke him out. He thought that it was friends of his father's however, it was not. This mob drove him down a dirt road and lynched him. When it was over, Judge Bennett was called to come for the body. Now, supposedly he and other family members, (mother, father, Della) are all buried in a family cemetery. But I don't know where it is. HELP!
