Thank you for the information about Rachel Jacob. I have never seen it before. This thread is about a William Bennett from Amelia County. This is not my line and I have not researched it. Somehow, William Bennett, who died in Jackson Co., Ga got tied to the Amelia Co. Bennetts. Maybe it is because he had a wife named Rachel. However, William Bennett of Jackson Co., Ga wrote his will in 1826 and "Rachel" was still alive. This cannot be Rachel Jacob if she died in 1794.
Here is a link which has of transcription of the will of William Bennett of Jackson Co., Ga. http://www.bennett-twins.com/genealogy/getperson.php?personI...
Notice that he names a son, Hezekiah, and daughters, Sarah & Judy Hardy, among other children. These children were old enough that they married before moving to Georgia. There are marriage bonds for all three of these in Pittsylvania County, Va.
William Bennett of Jackson Co, Ga is the son of John Bennett and Elizabeth Dodson of Pittsylvania County. He moved to Jackson Co. with his brother, Jesse, and a nephew, Tapley Bennett, son of Thomas. William's entire family moved with him. All these can be found living on Turkey Creek.
So, William Bennett of Jackson County, Ga is not part of the family which this thread is concerned with.
