Check out the deed & tax records in Franklin & Elbert counties GA. Our Benjamin Bennett (1772 NC/SC-1864 MS) spent some time there - possibly born there among the nest of Bennetts on Lightwood Log Creek which was the dividing line between Franklin & Elbert counties while they were there 1793-1813 at least, then in Elbert being divided it now divides Franklin & Hart counties & LL Creek largely under waters behind Hartwell Dam. We had oldsters memories in the 1920s of Lightwood Log Creek & of state boundary change - which happened 1787 when GA gave up land between the Keowee/Seneca River & the Chattooga/Tugalo River to South Carolina in exchange for a strip across the top that SC claimed. We have family records back to Benjamin & Delilah (Langston) Bennett & his father John -who would have been born @ 1720- 1752. Trying to find his parents. Those at LL Creek at some point 1793-1820 besides Benjamin & John Bennett are: Thomas T, Jesse "& his son John", Jno Jr, William, James, Cooper, Hezekiah, Moses, Hardin is sheriff 1820, Hiram "of South Carolina" 1824. Some may have stayed longer. My Micajah was Benjamin & Delilah's eldest son b 1797 GA.
